The year 2021 marks the completion of two decades of Renuka Shahane and Ashutosh Rana's married life. Thanking her Instagram family for their wishes, Renuka posted a selfie with Ashutosh.
While he had sent shivers down our spine with his villainous roles in Dushman (1988) and Sangharsh (1999), she had charmed us with her simplicity in Hum Aapke Hain Koun..! (1994). Ashutosh Rana and Renuka Shahane have strived to become 'actors' instead of 'stars' in the entertainment industry and contrary to their on-screen personalities, while he is a demure man in real life, she is known for not mincing her words and veraciously speaking on issues. Together, they are a match made in heaven, with a love story nothing less than a Bollywood film!

Renuka Shahane and Ashutosh Rana had first met on the trial of Hansal Mehta's directorial debut, Jayate, a film which never released. But after their introduction, Renuka and Ashutosh kept in touch and spoke with each other over the phone for three months. Renuka and Ashutosh fell in love over the phone and after three months, they started dating. In 2001, after dating for two years, Renuka and Ashutosh solemnised their relationship and tied the knot on May 25. In their journey of 'happily ever after', Renuka and Ashutosh were blessed with two sons, Shauryaman Rana and Satyendra Rana.

To wish Ashutosh on her 20th wedding anniversary, Renuka captioned the picture as "Twenty and forever more @ashutosh_ramnarayan Thank you my insta family for all your love on our anniversary." Last year, on their 19th anniversary, Renuka had posted an all-smiling throwback picture from their wedding with the caption "You and I....what a beautiful world....19 years ago today.... love eternal @ashutosh_ramnarayan."
In an interview with the Filmfare, when Renuka Shahane was asked, "What's it to have two seasoned actors under the same roof? How does that work? Tell us about your journey of love with Ashutosh Rana?" she had retorted, "We met at the trial of Hansal Mehta's film Jayate, which never got released but at least we got introduced that day. And after that we kept in touch. We were supposed to do a television serial together, so we got talking on the phone and we actually fell in love over the phone. After three months of just talking with each other on the phone, we started dating. The dating then converted into marriage in 2001 after two years."

Crediting her best friend-cum-husband, Ashutosh Rana for making her life so much better, Renuka Shahane had continued, "I never thought marriage would suit me so much but it has. And the credit for it goes to Rana ji for making life so much better. He's one of my best friends. He's very intelligent and extremely well-read. Whatever I write, he's like my sounding board. Most people think there might be an Abhimaan like situation between us. There is nothing like that because we are completely egoless with each other because like I said – friends don't have ego amongst them."
Speaking of how marriage is not a bed of roses and why both believe that it requires a lot of effort, while Ashutosh Rana, in an interview with ShaadiTimes, had said, "Marriage is not a bed of roses. You have to put a great deal of effort into marriage and remember that this is the woman you have chosen to be with, and you have to be there for her no matter what. You may have different opinions about certain things, it is essential for the both of you to have the same policy on life." Renuka Shahane was quoted as saying, "Being strong willed people, the secret to our marriage is having no ego and always finishing an argument. Identify the problem, discuss it and find a solution. Never sleep over an argument!"
