When Reid Wiseman Took His Teen Daughters Inside The Orion Spacecraft Before Flying To The Moon

Artemis II mission astronaut, Reid Wiseman, reached the moon and named a crater behind his late wife, Carroll Taylor Wiseman. Reid has always been a family man, and after the demise of his wife, Carroll, due to cancer, he has been a single father to two teenage daughters- Ellie and Katherine. Before taking the risky space mission, Reid used to give weekly updates about the Orion spacecraft. He had once even taken his daughters to his workplace, and they had almost been inside the spacecraft.

Reid Wiseman, at one end, gave the most emotional tribute to his late wife, Carroll, by naming a bright crater on the Moon in her memory. Well, to reach the Moon was not easy. The Orion Spacecraft had to undergo multiple tests, which were important for the Artemis II mission. In one of the weekly updates, the commander revealed how awesome it was to see his kids working with him. As seen in the video posted by Reid, his teen daughters, Ellie and Katherine, were seen entering the Orion capsule, being with their dad during one of the astronauts' dress rehearsals. They looked curious to see the spacecraft that had now carried the astronauts far away from Earth. Reid, in the video, had mentioned:

"It was our dress reharsal and I also got my kids and it was awesome to have them with us for the day. They can see the work. Artemis II crew weekly update for June 16-20, 2025. We are surrounded by inspiration! Lunar geology experts, training teams, and an added treat to have a few of our kids with us as we train for an upcoming major test in the Orion spacecraft…Cheers!"

Reid Wiseman reveals that cutting off from humanity made him feel surreal

NASA's ace astronauts, Reid Wiseman, Victor Glover, and Christina Koch, along with Jeremy Hansen, are reportedly scheduled for a splashdown at 8:07 p.m. on Friday night, April 11, 2026. Reid had reflected on his historic sojourn around the moon. He had revealed that being cut off from humanity and being on the moon was something very surreal. For those who do not know, the Artemis mission was established in 2017, and NASA officially announced the top crew for Artemis II on April 3, 2023. It was on April 1, 2026, that the Artemis II mission launched with NASA's ace astronauts, Reid Wiseman, Victor Glover, and Christina Koch, along with Jeremy Hansen on board.

When Reid Wiseman manifested going to the moon

Reid Wiseman was a former US Navy fighter and test pilot who was selected as a NASA astronaut in 2009. A report by NDTV claimed that Reid had expressed interest in going to the moon. It was on December 7, 2016, when he had tweeted about being in the lunar orbit. His tweet that had gone viral read:

"Dreamt I was in lunar orbit last night. Been in that post-vivid-dream-that-wasn't-real funk all morning."

Well, it is interesting to note that eight years after Reid made the tweet, NASA announced the four astronauts who would be part of Artemis II. Indeed! Reid has been to the moon and back. Well, it was in 2014 that Reid went to the International Space Station and was a part of the Expedition 40/41. The Commander was also the 17th chief of the prestigious Astronaut Office from 2020 till 2022. Reportedly, Reid is the oldest man to travel like beyond the Earth and his dream has come true.
