Add BollywoodShaadis on GoogleThe much-awaited trailer of Ramayana is out, and it is purely magical. The trailer was released during the Brahma Muhurat at 4:15 am, an auspicious pre-dawn period in Hindu tradition. The four-minute trailer offers an elusive look at the mythological epic, which created a sense of excitement among the masses.
The titular role of Lord Ram, played by Ranbir Kapoor, showed the actor in a completely different avatar. Ranbir’s innocence was unmissable in the scenes where Kaikeyi, played by Lara Dutta, demands his exile. Playing the role of his wife, ‘Sita’ is the gorgeous Sai Pallavi, who, as always, made her performance and screen presence do the magic.
However, if there is someone who made everyone hooked to their screens from the beginning to the very end of the four-minute trailer, then it is Yash, who played the formidable Ravan. From the voice modulation to the jaw-dropping expressions, Yash was a complete delight. The elaborate war sequence, breathtaking landscape, and visual effects added to the overall experience.
The strategy of an early morning release worked in favor of the makers as people got to witness the epic trailer first thing in the morning. While Ranbir, Sai, and Yash impressed netizens, Ravi Dubey, who played ‘Lord Lakshman’, and Rakulpreet, as ‘Soorpanakha’, also received praise from the audience.
However, the absence of Sunny Deol, who played ‘Lord Hanuman’, a poignant character in Ramayana, made people disappointed. Ever since the epic was announced, everyone was thrilled to witness Sunny in the epic. But till the end, not even a glimpse of him was shown, which made people question the makers. Many felt that the trailer was incomplete without Lord Hanuman’s character.
Many speculated that Sunny’s role was saved for the second part and it was done intentionally by the makers, keeping it as a surprise. The makers hosted a special screening event for the Ramayana trailer launch in Delhi for a select audience on July 18, 2026, at Bharat Mandapam, in the presence of the star cast.
During the event, Sunny stated that he has only started working on the project, which suggested that Ramayana Part 1 might end at Rama's vanvaas. Speaking about his role in the film, Sunny said:
“I have done only a little work on the film so far. I still have a long way to go. I would like to thank Waheguruji for giving me the opportunity to play Hanuman Ji. I feel truly blessed to be a part of this journey. Hanuman Ji’s character is not easy to portray, but it is going to be a great experience because he is innocent, strong, and powerful. Most importantly, we need everyone's blessings as we have taken on such a big project."
The two-part mythological series, Ramayana, is produced by Namit Malhotra under Prime Focus Studios, DNEG, and Yash's Monster Mind Creations. The first part is scheduled to be released on Diwali 2026, and the second part is scheduled to release worldwide during Diwali 2027. During an event in San Diego, director Nitish Tiwari spoke about the ending of Ramayana Part 1 and revealed that they have decided to end the first part on a cliffhanger. As per him:
“Where we leave in part one is something which is, you can call it a cliffhanger, something which will make people want to watch part two the moment they leave the theatre."
