Add BollywoodShaadis on GoogleDiana, the Princess of Wales, was one of the most-loved personalities of her time. Be it her humanitarian works or her fashion outings, people would go crazy to get a glimpse of the royal lady. She tied the knot with Charles III in 1981, and the couple welcomed two sons, Prince Harry and Prince William. On August 31, 1997, Princess Diana bid adieu to the world after sustaining injuries during a tragic road accident.
Princess Diana often made headlines, as tabloids loved writing about every aspect of her life. She would often get annoyed by the things written about her, and because of this, she wasn’t allowed to get access to tabloids. One tabloid rumour that hurt Diana the most was the notion that her younger son, Prince Harry, might not be the biological son of Prince Charles.
But it was her former hairdresser, Richard Dalton, who worked with her from 1981 to 1990, who would ‘smuggle’ the tabloids for her. Dalton dared to break the royal rule for the princess and snuck out to bring tabloids for her. Speaking about the same, Dalton revealed:
“Diana used to say, ‘Richard, can you bring them in for me?’ Nobody questioned it because nobody knew. Once I’d got through security and into the pantry, it was all plain sailing from there. I’d be doing her hair, she’d be flipping through the pages, and she’d go, ‘Ugh’, then throw it to the side.”
Though Princess Diana and Prince Charles had the most extravagant wedding, their marital life was full of controversies. Before marrying Princess Diana, Prince Charles was in love with socialite Camilla Shand. But the royal family didn’t approve their marriage, and the two split up. However, despite Camilla and Charles' respective marriages, they continued seeing each other. Charles continued meeting Camilla; meanwhile, an unhappy Diana, dealing with post-partum depression, allegedly also had an affair with army captain, James Hewitt.
There were rumours that Charles and Diana were not compatible. However, more than compatibility, Diana blamed Charles' affair with Camilla and her presence in the marriage for the discord in the royal marriage. In a popular interview, Diana had famously said, "There were three of us in the marriage. It was a bit crowded".
After this, the media knew that all was not well between the royal couple, and every outing of the two was marked by mockery, and the press reported that the two looked miserable with one another.
In 1992, it was officially announced that Diana and Charles had separated and were co-parenting their two children. A few years later, they officially divorced in 1996. Princess Diana was also stripped of the 'Your Highness' title. A year after the divorce, Princess Diana died at the age of 36 in a road accident. She was with her alleged romantic partner at the time, Dodi Fayed, who was also killed in the car crash. Charles, on the other hand, married Camilla in 2005 and was crowned as the king in 2023.
