However, not a lot of people know that there were rumours of him being secretly married to an actress. The actress is often regarded as one of the most beautiful and talented actresses of the film industry, in fact, one of the most talented of her generation, the dimpled girl, Preity Zinta.
Back in 2001, when the film, Dil Chahta Hai was released in theatres, people were stunned by the film’s story but Aamir and Preity’s chemistry had also caught a lot of attention. Both of them were looking adorable with each other. But it was when in 2002, Aamir Khan had ended his marriage with his then-wife, Reena Dutta that the rumours of Preity Zinta being the reason behind their split took a huge jump. There were reports that the duo had secretly gotten married and are hiding it now. Finally, after months of speculations and reports, Preity Zinta went on the Rendezvous With Simi Garewal and had talked about all these rumours. She had stated, “Aamir is a very dear friend. We had a great working relationship in Dil Chahta Hai. When things were not going properly in his personal life, I was the nearest candidate because the last film he did was with me. On the same show, Preity had even talked about her dating rumours with Sanjay Dutt. On which, the actress got a little bit angry and had revealed, “I was really shocked, actually, and very pissed off. I love Sanju. I love him. I have loved him since I was a kid and he is like papa bear to me. He doesn’t even call me Preity, he calls me Yaku... He has always treated me like I am his kid sister or he has put his arm around me and asked, ‘Are you fine?’ So, for me to be linked with him was disgusting.”
