Prajakta Koli opened up about her thoughts on saying goodbye to her much-loved Netflix show, 'Mismatched,' as she gears up to film its final season.
Prajakta Koli is making steady strides in her career, especially as her creative instinct pulls her in various directions. This includes books, theatre, streaming shows, and Marathi cinema. However, through it all, the actor-creator has maintained her emotional connection with the young adult web series, Mismatched. For the uninitiated, this was Prajakta's first lead role in a streaming show and before long, her character, ‘Dimple Ahuja', became a household name among young viewers. Now that Netflix has announced the final season of the show, Prajakta opened up about the same.
In February 2026, at the Next on Netflix event held in Mumbai, the final season of the much-loved show, Mismatched, was officially announced. In the last season, the story will once again follow ‘Dimple’ and ‘Rishi’, and his fate brings them back together despite their emotional goodbye. This results in their feelings, which were unresolved, resurfacing, forcing them to revisit their relationship once again, as neither of them had ever truly moved on from it.
The interesting part about the Mismatched final season is that at present, ‘Rishi’ can be seen standing at a turning point in life, which could change everything forever, and this will help the show explore whether he and ‘Dimple’ were truly mismatched or if it was the timing that had kept them apart.
Prajakta, who essayed the role of ‘Dimple’ in the series, in an interview with Hindustan Times, revealed that she is already emotionally preparing herself to say goodbye to the show and her character. She said she is “equal parts excited and terrified” about how she will deal with the last day on the show's set. She added:
“I have been Dimple for almost seven years now. I am dreading each day that passes because it takes me closer to the final day. I am going to cry my eyes out and hug everybody.”
Prajeta went on to reveal that nobody had really anticipated the kind of impact Mismatched would eventually have on younger audiences. She claimed that it was an eye-opener for all of them. Talking about how everyone was pretty much new, she said that when they were shooting Mismatched, they would talk about how it had the vibe of Full Mill Gayye or Mille Jab Hum Tum. She added:
"It had been so long since those types of shows were on TV. Mismatched opened opportunities for me to explore the genre.”
Apart from the web series, Prajakta Koli recently stepped into Marathi cinema with the film, Krantijyoti Vidyalay Marathi Madhyam. According to the actress, it was a move that felt deeply personal. Apparently, the movie came to her through the producers, Kshiti Jog and Hemant Dhome. She shared:
“Kshiti played my mother in Mismatched. I love Marathi cinema; it’s my mother tongue, and I did Marathi theatre for a long time. Moving into this was a new universe for me, but Kshiti narrated the story, and I was fully serious about it.”
Speaking about how theatre is also an important learning ground for her as an actor, Prajakta said that she loves feeding off live energy. She revealed that when she first started making content, she would often ask her friends to sit behind the camera, though they would soon leave to do their own work. According to her, all her learning comes from being on different sets, especially because she had never been professionally trained as an actor. This is why she also thinks theatre is a great place for that.
Prajakta Koli will next be seen on upcoming projects like Operation Safed Sagar, Single Papa Season 2, and the final season of Mismatched.
