It was in mid-June when Phil was accused of sexual misconduct with a female employee, which further resulted in his alleged expulsion from a club. Phil then retained a defamation attorney and mentioned that these were only rumours, while mentioning that he would take legal steps against those who spread false information about him.
Following this, a report by Skratch reporter Alan Shipnuck created a stir, as it quoted Pat Perez's ex-wife, Ashley Perez, saying that Phil showed her some lewd photos of himself and made some comments, while she was still married. And now, Phil, through his defamation attorney, has reacted to the same allegations against him.
As per the recent statement to The Post, Phil Mickelson rejected all the allegations that he was ever expelled from any of the clubs or showed anyone his nude photos, while tagging Alan Shipnuck's publication, 'anonymously sourced drive-by shooting.' In the earlier publication by Skratch, it was reported that not only from The Farms, but Phil Mickelson was forced out of two other clubs, and the same happened due to personal conduct.
The same report also claimed that in 2015, Phil showed his nude photos to Ashley Perez. According to the same report, Phil and his wife, Amy, allegedly had a strained relationship, and this claim was backed by anonymous sources who said the golfer's wife played a role in his departure from the clubs. It was also reported that the family used Apple's 'Find Me' location-sharing feature as well. However, Phil Mickelson's representative dismissed all such claims, adding that Amy is not a public figure and she wishes not to come into the limelight, so there is no legitimate journalistic reason that she should be dragged into this.
According to Mickelson's reps, the golfer has never been ousted from any of the golf clubs, and the decision was his own. Alan Shipnuck was accused of using anonymous sources to speculate about Mike's marital life, and wrongly reporting about the 'Find My Family' feature, which is used by millions on a daily basis. To quote Mickelson's reps:
"It's false. Amy Mickelson is not a public figure did not choose this spotlight and there was no legitimate journalistic reason to drag her into it. Mr. Mickelson has never been expelled from a golf club. His membership has never been revoked by a golf club. Those decisions were his alone.”
Mickelson's reps also mentioned that Alan Shipnuck omitted crucial information from the story of Ashley Perez, while adding that the golfer shared that the photo was merely a 'topless' photo. According to Phil's team, just because he had previously apologised, it doesn't mean 'his conduct should not be misconstrued as an admission of every allegation made against him.'
On the other hand, Mickelson's team criticised the publication for the recent publication about the golfer, which is not 'credible'. Ben Boskovich, editor-in-chief of Skratch, denied all the claims by Mickelson's team and mentioned that three days before the article was published, the golfer, his wife and attorney were offered to make comments on the same, and it's now 'bizarre' that they are making such claims.
