Add BollywoodShaadis on Google15 years after Michelle Parker, a 33-year-old Florida mom, disappeared without trace, the cold case has seen new developments. Dale Smith Jr., Parker's former fiancé, was arrested earlier this week in connection with her murder. As he faces a second-degree murder charge, Judge Marilyn Milian has broken her silence about the case.
Parker disappeared on November 17, 2011, just hours after a prerecorded episode of The People's Court featuring her and Smith aired. The former couple had appeared before Milian over a dispute involving an engagement ring.
During an October 15, 2026, conversation with Inside Edition, Judge Milian, 65, revealed she and other members of the show were devastated after the reports of Parker's vanishing came out. Milian said the news left the show's staff struggling with questions about whether anything during the couple's appearance could have suggested what would happen next. She recalled:
"Devastated. Because you sit there and you say to yourself, 'Is there anything I could have done differently? Is there anything we could have anticipated? Is there anything he said, or she said that might have given a glimpse into what the future would hold?'"
Parker and Smith had appeared on The People's Court to argue over an engagement ring reportedly worth USD 5,000. Their relationship had ended, and Smith wanted the ring returned. During the episode, Smith claimed Parker had thrown the ring off a balcony, while Parker described a troubled relationship and accused him of repeatedly cheating.
Parker said she had tried to keep their relationship together for the sake of their children. She also described Smith as "pretty malicious and vindictive" while explaining their dispute. Although the episode was recorded before it aired, its broadcast eerily coincided with the day Parker disappeared, occurring just hours before the report.
Michelle Parker was last seen on November 17, 2011, after dropping off her then-3-year-old twins at the Orlando home of her ex-fiancé, Dale Smith Jr. The former couple shared custody of the children, and Smith was the last known person to see or hear from Parker that day. She planned to run a few errands before heading to her evening shift at a bar in Sanford, Florida, but she never showed up for work.
Her Hummer was discovered abandoned in an Orlando mall parking lot the following day. Investigators noted that its custom decals had been removed. Several weeks later, divers recovered her iPhone from the water near the Nela Bridge in Belle Isle. Parker's remains have never been found.
On October 14, 2026, the Orlando Police Department announced Smith's arrest on a charge of second-degree murder. Police said the development followed years of investigative work and a renewed effort over the previous year.
An expanded team revisited evidence and used advances in digital forensics to uncover and analyze additional information. Orlando Police Chief Eric Smith said investigators had also reviewed testimony and conflicting statements.
Orlando Police Chief confirmed during a press conference that Dale Smith Jr. was the last known person to see or hear from Parker before she vanished. He declined to discuss all the evidence publicly, citing the need to protect the case. Investigators had also searched property owned by Smith's father in August 2023, excavating a concrete slab, but no human remains were found.
Smith appeared in court on October 15, 2026, and pleaded not guilty. His attorney, Rajan Joshi, said his client had consistently maintained his innocence and that the arrest came as a surprise. Joshi told USA Today:
"He's always maintained his innocence... That's the mother of his child. We want to see justice done for Michelle Parker and her family. We just don't want the wrong guy convicted."
A judge ordered Smith held without bond, with a later hearing planned to revisit the issue. He has not been proven guilty. For Parker's family, the arrest marks a major development in a case that has remained unresolved for nearly 15 years. Her mother, Yvonne Stewart, said she was not surprised by the news and expressed hope that the case would finally bring answers about her daughter's fate.
The authorities have not yet shared details about what evidence led to murder charges against Smith, all these years later. He is now arrested without bond and maintains his innocence.
Do you think Dale Smith Jr. might have something to do with Michelle Parker's disappearance, or possibly murder?
