Currently, the movie is generating buzz online as it has premiered on OTT. Amid that, read on to know what happens to 'Tommy' towards the end of Peaky Blinders: The Immortal Man.
The blockbuster film, Peaky Blinders: The Immortal Man opens with 'Tommy Shelby' (Cillian Murphy) living far away from Birmingham. He is no longer the powerful leader that he once used to be. Rather, he has isolated himself after he accidently killed his own brother. Meanwhile, 'Tommy's' son, 'Duke' (played by Barry Keoghan) has taken control of Peaky Blinders. Unlike his father, 'Duke' is ruthless and emotionally distant.
'Duke' starts working with 'John Beckett' (Tim Roth). He is a Nazi sympathiser, who secretly wants Germany to win the war through economic collapse. He plans to destroy the value of the pound and weaken the country so that they cannot fight in the World War. For the same, he seeks help from 'Duke'. As they continue their mission, 'Duke's' aunt, 'Ada Shelby' (Sophie Rundle) becomes one of the first persons to go against him.
When 'Ada' realises that 'Duke' is heading towards the wrong path, she decides to stop him. However, 'Duke' refuses to listen. Eventually, 'Ada' takes the matter into her hand. She gathers a few officials and plans to get 'Duke' arrested and prevent the damage. When 'John Beckett' gets to know this, he tests 'Duke's' loyalty by asking him to kill his own aunt. Even though 'Duke' agrees in the beginning, he is unable to kill his own family member. At the last minute, 'Beckett' arrives and shoots 'Ada', who dies in front of 'Duke'.
As soon as 'Tommy Shelby' gets to know about the death of 'Ada', he is forced to return to Birmingham and take revenge from 'John Beckett'. He also realises that his son, 'Duke' is in danger and he must be stopped. For the same, 'Tommy' reunites with his gang including 'Johnny Dogs', 'Charlie Strong', 'Curly' and more.
To stop 'Beckett', 'Tommy' creates a step-by-step plan. His plan includes a ship full of explosives that would be sent to 'Beckett's' warehouse. At that same time, the Peaky Blinders will attack his men, which would help 'Tommy' secretly enter the underground tunnel and destroy the counterfeit money. The tunnel scene reminds 'Tommy' of his experiences in World War 1.
Apart from the foolproof plan, 'Tommy' also gets support from his son, 'Duke', who is pretending to be loyal to 'Beckett'; however, he is sharing inside details with his father. As the movie progresses, 'Tommy' and his gang execute their mission. Their mission goes as planned and 'Tommy' is able to enter the underground tunnel and destroy the fake money; however, 'Beckett' is successful in escaping in his car. While he is escaping, 'Tommy' spots him and instead of protecting himself, he steps into the open to kill 'Beckett'.
However, 'Beckett' gets a better view, who shoots 'Tommy' twice in his torso. Despite being heavily injured, 'Tommy' refuses to back down, and he fires back at 'Beckett', which kills him. This marks the ultimate revenge of 'Ada's' death. Meanwhile, 'Tommy' knows that he won't survive, so he turns to his son, 'Duke' and asks him to end his life.
Even though 'Duke' hesitates in the beginning, he understands what his father wants and ends up killing him. The film ends with a traditional gypsy funeral of 'Tommy Shelby'. He is surrounded by people who stayed loyal to him till his last breath. Despite killing his father, 'Duke' is now the new leader of Peaky Blinders.
