For the unversed, Lindsay was charged with murdering her three young children in their home while her then-husband, Patrick Clancy was allegedly out for an errand. After the highly publicized triple-murder trial, Patrick's deleted Reddit posts about Lindsay emerged.
In the posts, Patrick opened up about his suspicion that his ex-wife was given the wrong medication, leading to her drastic weight loss and thoughts of harming kids. The posts also revealed that he feared Lindsay might harm their loved ones a month before the death of their kids. He made several posts on Reddit documenting Lindsay's worsening condition and seeking advice on what he can do to make things better.
Patrick Clancy's deleted Reddit account gives a glimpse of the timeline of his ex-wife, Lindsay's spiraling madness and the couple's struggles in the months leading up to the murder of their three children. The account was active from 2017 to 2025, and in one of its posts, Patrick reportedly suspected that Lindsay was given the wrong medication, which led to her increased mental and physical issues.
Patrick felt that Lindsay didn't need the Zoloft that she was prescribed, as taking it only worsened her condition. According to him, her proper diagnosis was not done, and doctors prescribed her a lot of medicines, thinking that she just had sleeping issues due to stress or other factors. However, that led to signs of bipolar disorder, insomnia (lack of sleep for about 48 hours straight), and severe weight loss of about 15 pounds.
Patrick made the posts in a December 2022 post in the Ask Docs subreddit. He prefaced it with "posting for my wife," and wrote:
"I suspect this medication was never needed in the first place (Zoloft was my own idea), but my psychiatrist is saying I'm exhibiting signs of bipolar disorder. After a week of taking Zoloft, I developed severe insomnia. At one point, I went 48 hours without sleeping."
Patrick's December 9, 2022 post revealed even more shocking details about Lindsay. According to the post, her behavior became extremely alarming in the month before her alleged killing of their kids. Patrick asked Reddit users whether anyone had heard of a medication side effect causing thoughts of "hurting others."
Notably, Lindsay claimed she repeatedly heard voices telling her to kill her children and eventually gave in after resisting for a long time. Patrick Clancy's post could be read as:
"Has your [medication] experience ever involved thoughts of hurting others, including loved ones?" "Did you ever feel like you came close to acting on them? Or were they just thoughts?"
Patrick further shared that Linday was "overwhelmed" with her kids and faced postpartum depression after the birth of their first two kids. He added that things got out of hand after their third child's birth and, as per him, even medication was not proving to be beneficial this time. He claimed that she was "severely depressed, numb" and had "suicidal thoughts."
In a September 2026 interview with CBS' 60 Minutes, Patrick Clancy argued that his ex-wife, Lindsay was not a "monster" but rather a person who had committed some grave crimes due to being severely ill. He revealed that he forgave Lindsay Clancy after the killings, as he knew that she couldn't have done that in her normal state.
Patrick hit back at the headlines labeling Lindsay as "Killer Mom" and "Baby Murderer," claiming that it was her deteriorating mental health that drove her to commit the unthinkable.
