Paris Jackson once opened up about the impact of her father, Michael Jacksons fame on her and how it changed her life.
Paris Jackson has secured the most-anticipated victory of her life in an ongoing dispute involving the estate of her late father, Michael Jackson. According to reports, a Los Angeles judge ruled in favour of Paris after she challenged payments worth USD 625,000 that had reportedly been issued as bonuses to outside law firms by estate executors. The money will now be returned to Michael Jackson’s estate.
For the unversed, Paris is Michael’s only daughter apart from his two sons, Prince Jackson and Bigi Jackson. Paris Jackson became one of the beneficiaries of the estate following Michael Jackson’s death in 2009, alongside her brothers. Many people know that Paris was very close to her father and his death when she was just 11, shattered her to the core. However, being the daughter of the world’s biggest pop sensation had its own demerits.
Paris Jackson had witnessed her father’s immense fame and how people went crazy to get a glimpse of him. This was one of the reasons Michael did everything to conceal his kids' identities from the media and his fans. The constant clicks by the paparazzi were overwhelming for Paris as it was too much for her to take.
During an appearance on Red Table Talk, Paris spoke about her personal struggles with the fame she faced because of her father. Revealing how the constant barrage of media got her anxiety, she shared:
“I experience auditory hallucinations sometimes with camera clicks and severe paranoia and have been going to therapy for a lot of things, but that included. I'll hear a trash bag rustling and I, like, flinch and panic. ... I think it's just standard PTSD.”
Michael Jackson was not just a popular artist but an icon for many. While the world sobbed, fainted and admired him, Paris was the lucky one to spend a major part of her life with him. Speaking to Rolling Stone, Paris revealed that for a long time she didn’t know her father was famous. Admitting that she didn’t even know his name, Paris stated:
"I just thought his name was Dad, Daddy. We didn't really know who he was. But he was our world. And we were his world.”
Things became difficult for Paris after the death of her father, Michael Jackson, who loved her dearly. During Michael’s televised memorial, an 11-year-old Paris looked shattered and revealed that he had been the best father one could imagine. It was very difficult for the little girl to imagine a life without her father. She also attempted suicide to get over her grief.
While growing up, Paris became aware of the impact her father, Michael, had on the world. She continued to honour his legacy in various ways. In 2018, at a celebration on his 60th birthday, Paris and her brother, Prince, accepted a humanitarian service award from the Elizabeth Taylor AIDS Foundation on their father's behalf.
