O'Romeo, directed by Vishal Bhardwaj, starring Shahid Kapoor and Triptii Dimri is all set to release on OTT. For the unversed, the action thriller film hit the theatres in February 2026, and after a month, it is all set to premiere on the OTT. Now that reports around the OTT release are making rounds on social media, the spotlight is back on Hussain Ustara. Amid that, read on to know more about Ustara’s relationship with Sapna Didi and if they ever fell in love with each other.
For those who missed watching Shahid Kapoor’s movie, it tells the story 'Ustara' (played by Shahid Kapoor) and 'Afshan' (played by Triptii Dimri). The film is based on the book, Mafia Queens of Mumbai. The plot of the film revolves around 'Afshan', who wants to take revenge of her husband from 'Jalal'. During the same, she meets 'Ustara', who ends up helping her in revenge. Apart from the lead, the film also stars Nana Patekar, Avinash Tiwary, Rahul Deshpande, Tamannahh Bhatia, Disha Patani and more.
The action-thriller film, directed by Vishal Bhardwaj is currently dominating the headlines as reports claimed that the movie will premiere on the OTT giant, Amazon Prime Video on rental basis from March 27, 2026. If reports are to be believed, the movie will shift from rental to full streaming for subscribers in mid-April 2026. It is worth noting that the OTT platform hasn’t confirmed any date for the same.
In the film, ‘Ustara’ and ‘Afshan’ are shown to have a romantic relationship. Even though they joined hands to take revenge from ‘Jalal’, mid-way into the movie, the duo falls in love with each other. However, it was not the same case in real life. Days before the release of the film, Hussain Ustara’s daughter had sent a legal notice to the makers of the film. At the same time, she opened up about the relationship between Ustara and Afshan. She had shared:
"The story portrayed in the film is also wrong. My father had trained Sapna didi. She was like a sister to him. She used to come to our home and to our office."
During a conversation with News 18, Hussain Ustara’s daughter had opened up about Afshan a.k.a Sapna Didi. She explained that Sapna Didi had no one after her husband passed away. She did not have children either. And Hussain Ustara was the only person who came forward to help her. She had shared:
"Sapna didi had no one. She was alone when her husband was killed. She has no children. She went everywhere asking for help – to cleanse the city off crime – but it was only my baba who helped her."
According to an earlier report by Abp News, O'Romeo was made on a massive budget of Rs. 150 crore and it ended up earning Rs. 121 crore worldwide. Some online theories believe that the reason behind early OTT release and rental-basis is due to the poor performance of the film. Coming to the cast fees, Shahid Kapoor reportedly took home a massive paycheque of Rs. 45 crore, while Triptii Dimri charged Rs. 6 crore. It is worth mentioning that according to reports, Vikrant Massey did not charge anything for the film, despite playing an important role.
