Add BollywoodShaadis on GoogleOn 13 August, 2026, Nigel Farage won the Clacton by-election with 22,329 votes after resigning amid gift scrutiny, keeping his MP seat as major parties boycotted. The win follows Reform UK’s major gains in May’s local elections.
Apart from being a politician, Nigel has been a broadcaster and the leader of Reform UK. A key Brexit campaigner and former UKIP leader, he served as an MEP from 1999 to 2020. Following his recent victory, Nigel’s personal life has come into the limelight. Nigel is currently in a relationship with Laure Ferrari.
As mentioned, Nigel Farage is romantically linked to Laure Ferrari. For the unversed, Laure is a French political operative who has worked closely with Nigel for more than a decade. Ferrari was born in Epinal and studied English at the University of Strasbourg. She has described her interest in politics starting after the 2005 French EU Constitution referendum.
The duo first met in 2007 in Strasbourg when Ferrari was 28, working as a waitress while studying. Farage gave her a job as a parliamentary assistant handling environmental issues, and she later became director of public relations for the British delegation to the Europe of Freedom and Direct Democracy (EFDD) group in the European Parliament, serving from 2009 to 2014.
Ferrari also worked in French politics, including as a departmental secretary and European affairs delegate for Debout la France, and stood as a candidate for the party in the 2014 European elections. She later headed the Institute for Direct Democracy in Europe, a Eurosceptic think tank.
Reports of a romantic relationship emerged in 2017 when the pair were said to be sharing a home. Farage initially called it a working relationship. But by 2024, she was publicly described as his partner and listed as his domestic partner. She even supported Farage when he appeared on I’m A Celebrity.
In recent years they have been linked in property matters. As per The Times, the Land Registry records reportedly revealed that Farage and Ferrari own at least five properties in places like Surrey, Essex and Kent. A four-bedroom home in Frinton-on-Sea near Clacton was bought in November 2024 in Ferrari’s name. Farage said he had no financial stake and that Ferrari could afford it herself. He further stated that the house was in Laure’s name and taxes were paid, but declined to detail the funding.
While he is currently in a relationship with Laure Ferrari, Nigel Farage has been previously married twice. Farage’s first wife was Grainne Hayes, an Irish nurse. They met in a hospital setting after Farage was seriously injured in a car accident in Orpington, Kent, in November 1985.
Hayes was part of the medical team that cared for Nigel, and their patient-caregiver relationship developed into a personal one. At the time, Farage was still working in finance and not yet in politics. The former couple exchanged vows in 1988. A year after their marriage, the duo welcomed a son named Samuel in 1989. They had another child named Thomas in 1991. By the mid-1990s, pressures from Farage’s growing political commitments with UKIP began to strain the marriage. Nigel Farage and Grainne Hayes divorced in 1997.
Two years after their divorce, Nigel tied the knot with Kirsten Mehr in 1999. In 2000, they welcomed a child named Victoria. The duo’s second child, Isabelle, was born in 2005. Mehr also worked as Farage’s parliamentary secretary. In February 2017, Mehr told the Press Association she and Farage were living separate lives and that Farage had moved out of the family home. While the split was confirmed in 2017, the duo has not divorced yet.
