Two days after the celebrity couple’s death, their son, Nick Reiner, was charged with their murders.
Nick was put into Twin Towers Correctional Facility in Los Angeles after being charged with his parents’ murders. And now, it is reported that Nick is looking completely different and is unrecognisable. A source told the Daily Mail that Nick’s health is ‘rapidly deteriorating’. The source further stated that Nick looked skinny and had gone almost bald due to medication provided by the institution.
The insider also revealed that though Nick wasn’t keeping well even before his parents’ death, his condition inside the prison deteriorated rapidly now. According to the source, Nick’s behavior is also affecting his ability to speak with his lawyers, as he is ‘babbling like a child’.
Nick’s condition has turned so bad that he is unable to spend time with other inmates and is left alone in the prison with his ‘dark thoughts’. On the other hand, Nick’s siblings, Jake and Romy Reiner, expressed concern over his falling health and believed that he could “possibly die as his heart could weaken from the constant strain”.
It was in December 2025 that American filmmaker and actor Rob Reiner, 78, and his wife, Michele Singer Reiner, were found dead in their Brentwood, Los Angeles home. It was Rob and Michele’s younger daughter, Romy Reiner, who informed the authorities after she was unable to reach her parents. However, when she reached Rob and Michele’s estate in Brentwood, Los Angeles, she was shocked to find them lying lifeless.
Romy immediately called 911, bringing authorities to the crime scene. She also claimed that her brother, Nick Reiner, was "dangerous" and could be a suspect in the case. Hours later, the police arrested the couple's son, Nick Reiner, and declared him the prime suspect in the murder of Rob and Michele. He was later charged with their murders. Two months after Rob and Michele Reiner’s death, Nick appeared in court and pleaded not guilty to their brutal slayings.
According to a report in The New York Post, a source close to Rob Reiner's family revealed that tensions between Rob and Nick had been high for some time. The source also recalled an incident that occurred a day before the tragedy. According to the source, Rob and Nick got into a fight at a party hosted by Conan O'Brien on December 13, 2025.
At Conan O'Brien's Christmas party, Nick reportedly freaked everyone out by asking if they were famous. Sources revealed to TMZ that he seemed to be back on his drug usage, for which his parents reportedly were asking him to opt for treatment, which he refused, leading to a fight. Rob reportedly told everyone that he was scared of Nick's mental health issues. Rob also shared that he feared that his son could harm him.
