Mouni Roy and Suraj Nambiar have found themselves at the centre of attention as fresh speculation around their relationship began doing the rounds on the internet. It all began when eagle-eyed fans noticed that the couple had unfollowed each other on Instagram. Soon, this led to rumours about there being trouble in their marriage.
It is worth noting that some reports online even suggest that Suraj had removed his wedding pictures with Mouni from his profile. However, as of now, neither Suraj nor Mouni has issued any official statement confirming a split or a divorce. Now, amid the constant spotlight on Mouni's personal life, let's take a look back at when she spoke out about online trolling and plastic surgery allegations.
Actress, Mouni Roy debuted a new look with bangs back at the trailer launch of her film, The Bhootni. Soon after her appearance, many began commenting on her face by taking to social media, with some fans even accusing her of undergoing cosmetic surgery. A few trolls theorised that the reason Mouni chose her new hairstyle was so that she could cover up a so-called botched procedure.
The trolling went a step further when fake AI-generated videos of the actress started spreading online like wildfire. These videos showed distorted versions of Mouni's face with exaggerated features like raised eyebrows and prominent cheekbones.
With the AI-generated videos getting a lot of traction online, Mouni has no choice but to address the matter head-on. During an interview with Zoom at the time, she spoke about how she found the content disturbing. Reacting to the AI videos, Mouni said:
“Till date, sometimes I see those AI videos, and suddenly you feel… It’s so cringe… and it’s yourself, right? When I see my face distorted over someone else’s body, it’s disgusting. What do they want to achieve with it? All they are collecting are people’s curses and bad wishes.”
Mouni then went on to reflect on how she used to react to the online hate when she was still new to Instagram. She confessed that the trolling used to bother her so much that it would lead her to take direct action against such users. In her words:
“Initially, when I’d come on Instagram, and I’d get a lot of hate, I’d actually make the effort of going to their profiles and blocking them… Now I feel very pitiful. You should pray for them.”
According to Mouni, most people troll celebrities just to get attention and engagement on social media. She added, “People are genuinely just writing rubbish and vicious things about others just to get likes.” However, despite the harsh comments and constant trolling, the actress believes in choosing to focus on the love that she receives from her fans. She said:
“You can either be a glass-half-full or glass-half-empty person. I can’t negate the love I receive.”
It is worth mentioning that previously, Mouni Roy has also talked about how she used to be insecure about her looks. According to her, ever since she was a child, she had been critical of her facial features, something which only her close circle knows about. However, she overcame her insecurities and accepted herself with the help of meditation and spiritual healing. Mouni also revealed that she is a firm believer in self-love and preaches the same to other people.
