After announcing her divorce from Suraj Nambiar, Mouni Roy makes her first public appearance and addressed questions related to her personal life.
Actress, Mouni Roy has been grabbing the limelight for her personal life as she recently announced her divorce from her husband, Suraj Nambiar. Mouni, who got married to Suraj in 2022, parted ways with him in 2026. The couple announced the same on social media and sought privacy. And now, Mouni made her first appearance post-announcing her divorce.
Mouni Roy arrived at Cannes for the screening of Bombay Stories at the Marché Du Film and spoke to Brut about the various aspects of her life. The actress spoke about her Bengali roots and how she navigates criticism around her life. Speaking about how she has been a constant topic of discussion among the masses, Mouni stated, “Kuch to log kahenge, logon ka kaam hai kehna, karne do baatein.”
When Mouni was asked about her decade-long career in the industry, she shared that it had been a roller coaster ride. She stated that there had been a lot of hardships and a lot of failure. In the same interaction, Mouni also revealed that she wanted to be an IAS officer. Sharing details about the same, Mouni said:
“I have woken up in the morning feeling tired, feeling sad, feeling unwell but I have never woken up not wanting to go to work. That’s the biggest blessing of what we do as we love what we do.”
Mouni Roy and Suraj Nambiar met each other during the pandemic, and soon rumours about them started surfacing. In 2022, the duo married according to Malayali and Bengali rituals and became business partners. While everything looked perfect from the outside, reports surfaced that the duo is heading for a divorce.
Several reports also claimed that Mouni and Suraj were already staying separately. The duo didn’t comment on the news. After a whole lot of conversation, Mouni and Suraj took to their social media accounts and, in a collaborative post, announced that they had parted ways amicably. They also addressed the fabricated stories about them and asked people to refrain from spreading or believing them. Seeking privacy as they navigate their individual life, the couple wrote:
“After thoughtful reflection on evolving personal priorities, we have mutually chosen to move forward on separate paths with respect and understanding. At this point, we are focused on navigating this phase thoughtfully and privately. We will endeavour to cherish our friendship in times to come. We sincerely appreciate your understanding, respect for our privacy, and the continued support extended to us during this time. Mouni and Suraj."
After the estranged couple announced the news of their divorce, there have been several rumours around, mostly about third-party involvement. Mouni Roy was unnecessarily linked to Disha Patani, while there were also some unverified claims that Suraj was cheating on the actress. However, it was Suraj who now stepped forward to dismiss it all.
Taking to his social media handle, Suraj revealed that there's no truth in such claims. He further mentioned that there's no third-party involvement. Suraj went on to reveal that there's no alimony and no dispute. He further mentioned that the only reason he parted ways with Mouni was for their mutual well-being and nothing else.
