The new chapter in Ryan Lochte's personal life began after his ex-wife, Kayla Rae Reid, claimed that Molly began talking to him while they were still married. She explained that Molly's actions were "quite sick." In fact, she also alleged that Molly showed up as her supportive friend. But, in reality, she was secretly pursuing a relationship with Ryan Lochte.
However, Molly has rejected the narrative. She sat down for an interview with TMZ and argued that there was no marriage left for her to wreck when she came into Ryan's life. She claimed that Ryan and Kayla were already living separately when they met. So, their marriage had already broken down before she began to date him.
At the same time, she denied violating any "girl code". She claimed that when she first began talking to Ryan, there was no hint that he wanted to reconcile with his ex-wife. Instead, she alleged that Kayla often said negative things about her estranged husband and expressed frustration over their bond.
A major point of debate in the issue has been the timeline of events. Molly claims that she and Ryan did not begin dating until April 2025. It was exactly a month after Kayle filed for divorce. Therefore, she insists that there was no overlap between her relationship with Ryan and the end of his marriage to Kayla.
Molly Gillihan also admitted that Ryan had made mistakes in his past. She mentioned that he was not the ideal husband for Kayla. So, she understands the latter's frustrations. However, she says that she knows a different version of him that exists today. According to Molly, Ryan has become a better partner.
Ryan Lochte and Kayla Rae Reid met in 2016 and married in 2018. They welcomed three children together and often shared pictures of their family life on social media. However, their relationship faced major challenges. Eventually, Kayla filed for divorce in March 2025.
The divorce was finalized in July 2026 after a long legal process. Since they both opened up about the problems in their marriage, Kayla stated that there were major personal struggles and trust issues between them.
After their separation, Ryan moved ahead with Molly. She is a teacher and a mother of three. They reportedly met through their children's school, and now they are focused on building their blended family. The duo made their relationship public in 2025, and Ryan popped the question to Molly in June 2026 at the same place where they first met on a date. Now, they have moved in together, and Ryan has become a swim coach in Missouri.
