Michael Douglas' deeply personal memoir, One Helluva Ride will drop on October 6, 2026. Ahead of that, some bombshell revelations from the book have been making headlines, including his multiple affairs while being separated (but not divorced) from his first wife, Diandra Luker. In One Helluva Ride, Michael recalled an instance where he and Diandra visited Los Angeles, but for some reason, she refused to spend the night with him, leaving him frustrated.
Michael Douglas, being the Casanova that he was back in the 80s, decided to get some other girl to sleep with. He had invited someone over to his hotel room, and during their secret rendezvous, he suddenly heard "the door handle turn." Then it opened, and he saw his ex-wife "standing in the doorway, staring" at him and the woman he was lying on the bed with. After being caught by Diandra Luker, Michael felt that she might have been tipped off about it by a private investigator.
Following the LA hotel incident, Diandra gave her then-husband an ultimatum of choosing between "rehab or divorce." The Basic Instinct actor chose rehab as he wanted to save their marriage; however, things still didn't improve between them, and they eventually parted ways. Diandra filed for divorce in 1995, and it was finalized in 2000.
Michael's revelation about being caught in bed with another woman might lead to assumptions that he slept with a lot of women and was always seeking physical intimacy. He shut down the chatter beforehand, clarifying in his book that he was never a sex addict.
Michael Douglas and Kathleen Turner have long been speculated to be more than just co-stars, and through his new memoir, he himself confirmed that they had an affair when he was separated from Diandra Luker. After about four decades of keeping the secret, he asked Kathleen if he could reveal that to the world. With her permission, he wrote about it in detail in One Helluva Ride. He stated:
"Kathleen was smart, funny, and sexy, with a deep, sultry voice that became her signature. I instantly liked her, and we were immediately attracted to each other. Things at home were in a bad place. Diandra and I were both having extramarital affairs, including my recent romance with Diane Thomas."
The duo's chemistry was on display for everybody to see and thus became a widely discussed affair in the '80s. However, what wasn't visible was that before falling head over heels for his Romancing the Stone co-star, Michael was attracted to the movie's screenwriter, Diane Thomas. Diane's work was behind the scenes, and so was her romance with Michael Douglas. In his book, the actor admitted to having a brief fling with her before meeting Kathleen.
Michael claimed that when he was seeing Diane Thomas, both he and his ex-wife, Diandra were having extramarital affairs. Michael and Diane's fling probably ended when Kathleen came into the picture. Diane remained close to Michael, even though they no longer shared romantic feelings for each other.
