Sofia Richie is a well-known social media personality and model. Her modelling career began almost a decade ago in 2014 when she was featured in Teen Vogue at the age of 14. Elliott has been exposed to music from a very young age, all thanks to his father, Lucian Grainge. For those unaware, he has served as the chairman and CEO of Universal Music Group since 2010. In the years he has been in the industry, Lucian has worked with several renowned artists, including Elton John, The Rolling Stones, Katy Perry, Amy Winehouse, and Rihanna. Over the decades, he has also received several accolades for his work, including being named Billboard's first-ever Executive of the Decade. Furthermore, he received a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame and was also knighted by Queen Elizabeth in 2016.
Elliot Grainge's current place of residence might be Los Angeles, but he spent most of his childhood growing up in the UK. It was there that Elliot began to develop a love for the music business after watching his father. While talking to Variety in a 2019 profile, Elliot said:
"I was a weird kid who used to read the music trades. What I noticed about my father's negotiating style was how transparent, honest and sensible he was. When you put your cards on the table like that, negotiating is less competitive and more about teamwork."
After moving to the United States, Elliot went on to attend Northeastern University in Boston. Here, he reportedly studied sociology and economics and graduated with a Bachelor's degree.
Soon after Elliot graduated from college, he moved to Los Angeles. Here, Elliot launched his own record label, the 10K Projects. According to Forbes, he successfully signed rappers like Trippie Redd and Tekashi 6ix9ine. If the reports are true, 10K Projects has amassed 18 gold and 8 platinum/multi-platinum singles. To mention, in 2020, Elliot earned a spot on the coveted Forbes' 30 under 30 list. Currently, Elliot is also the CEO of Atlantic Records.
Although Elliot has a wide-ranging musical taste and has worked with several artists throughout his career, there is one person who holds a special place in his heart. Well, it is none other than the veteran rapper, Eminem. While talking to Variety in 2019, Elliot said that he was obsessed with Eminem and thought that he was the coolest thing in the world. To prove his point, Elliot added:
"If you look at the streaming data and analytics over the past six years, you'll see anyone under 28 around the world has been raised on hip-hop. It's a lifestyle, a culture, as rock once was for another generation. And I believe it was Eminem who took it to the next step in terms of global reach."
During a July 2023 interview with Who What Wear, Sophia opened up about the moment she realised she wanted to be more than friends with Elliot. The model revealed that she would often tell Elliot that whoever he ended up with would be the luckiest girl, and would be “really loved, appreciated, and worshipped.” While she used to think like this, one day Sofia realised, “Why can't the lucky girl be me?”
Just a few months after they started dating and after they went public with their romance, Elliot and Sofia bought a house together in April 2021. According to reports, the house was situated in Beverly Hills, in the same neighbourhood as Rihanna's and Paul McCartney's LA homes. Now, while Elliot and Sofia bought the house for USD 17 million, they made a profit when they sold the house over a year later for USD 22 million.
Elliot proposed to Sofia in April 2022. Just a year later, on April 22, 2023, the duo got married at a glamorous ceremony at Hotel du Cap-Eden-Roc in Antibes, France. For her big day, Sofia chose to wear a custom halter-style wedding gown by Chanel as she walked down the aisle with her father, Lionel Richie. Before exchanging their vows, Sofia told Vogue she was feeling super excited to be marrying Elliot, whom she called the man of her dreams.
