The story of Man vs Baby revolves around 'Trevor Bingley', who has taken up a job as a caretaker of a primary school. He has an estranged wife, 'Jess' and a daughter, 'Maddy'. However, things turned chaotic when someone left a baby unattended at the doorstep of St. Aldwin’s School. After discovering the abandoned baby, 'Trevor' tried to contact police officials and social service personnel, but every time he failed to hand over the baby safely. Meanwhile, 'Trevor' got a lucrative offer to house-sit an opulent penthouse in London during the festive season. After getting the job, 'Trevor' struggled hard to balance both babysitting and house-sitting.
When 'Trevor' went to meet 'Petra' and give an interview, so that he could get the lucrative job of house-sitting the London penthouse, he somehow managed to hide baby 'Jesus,' the abandoned little one. And when 'Petra' informed him that no one would come during Christmas, 'Trevor' thought he was safe, until a new problem was awaiting for him.
A homeless couple starts living at the back of the lavish penthouse after 'Trevor' took charge of it. However, he felt bad for them and tried to help them. The couple had a baby with them. Meanwhile, a social service personnel comes for baby 'Jesus'. Accidentally, 'Trevor' gave back the homeless couple’s baby instead of 'Jesus'. When the baby swap happened, the couple had gone for a housing interview.
After a lot of panic and struggles, 'Trevor' managed to bring things back in order. While the baby swapping incident took place, 'Petra' called 'Trevor' to inform him that the couple who originally resided in the penthouse are coming back during Christmas. However, the original housekeeper fails to come due to a heavy snowstorm, and thus, 'Trevor' gets the charge to clean up, decorate, cook, and arrange everything for the couple.
However, the couple failed to arrive in time as 'Petra' told 'Trevor', and thus he called her after arranging the grand feast. But when he called 'Petra' only to know that the couple was not coming back and had diverted their flight. While there was a sudden pause in 'Trevor's' life after the hustle and bustle of arranging the grand Christmas feast, the audience thought that he would be left alone during the celebration. But to everyone’s surprise, 'Trevor's' ex-wife, 'Jess' and daughter, 'Maddy' reach the penthouse to celebrate Christmas with him. The homeless couple also joined the festivities along with their baby. The series ends with the couple who originally resided in the London penthouse standing at the doorstep, hinting at a new challenge for 'Trevor' the next time.
During the London screening of the show, Man vs Baby, Rowan Atkinson shared an update about the sequel to the series. He shared that he and Will Davies are currently not planning for a sequel. The global fame then added that he and Will Davies will start working when the viewing figures are high.
