Evergreen divas, Madhuri Dixit and Karisma Kapoor recreated their iconic duet dance from the film, 'Dil To Pagal Hai'. Their charisma won hearts.
Madhuri Dixit and Karisma Kapoor are two of the most gorgeous and evergreen actresses of their generation. After debuting in films only a few years apart, the divas went onto carve their careers parallel to one another. Interestingly, though they were contemporaries, there was never a sense of competition between them. The duo’s effortless partnership and camaraderie was reflected in the film, Dil To Pagal Hai, a movie that has remained timeless even today.
Karisma Kapoor recently appeared as a special guest on the reality show, Dance Deewane, which is judged by Madhuri Dixit and Suniel Dutt. Recently, in a teaser glimpse shared by the official streaming platform of the show, both the divas, Madhuri and Karisma were seen recreating their dance-off in their popular song, Dance of Envy from the film, Dil To Pagal Hai. It was amazing to take note how both the actresses remembered the poses and moves distinctly and were seen pulling them off effortlessly on the stage.

While in the original song, both Madhuri and Karisma were seen sporting black athleisure wear, this time, the divas nailed their moves wearing yellow and black ethnic wears. Their never-ending grace and charm wooed millions of audiences yet again.

Soon enough, the clip became viral in no time, as eagle-eyed netizens remained awestruck with the actresses’ performance. A strong segment of audience chose their picks amongst the two ladies. Moreover, some others were impressed by the duo for remembering their steps exactly. In fact, many others reacted how Madhuri and Karisma still have the potential to give any other young actress a run for their money.
Well, even after more than 24 years of its release, Yash Chopra’s Dil To Pagal Hai has remained special in the hearts of countless cine lovers. While the star cast of the film is considered no less than a dream, it is interesting to note that Karisma Kapoor wasn’t the first choice of actress for the role of ‘Nisha’. Yash Chopra had narrated the script for the role to four other actresses, including Juhi Chawla, Manisha Koirala, Urmila Matondkar and Kajol. However, all the four divas turned down the offer for a number of reasons, post which it was Karisma who got finalised.

Previously, when Karisma Kapoor won a Filmfare award for her role in Dil To Pagal Hai, the actress had revealed how she too, was on the verge of refusing the role initially, after four other leading actresses already did so. Explaining the reason for the same, she mentioned how nobody wished to feature in a dance film with such a tremendous dancer like Madhuri Dixit. In her words:
“Every single heroine refused the film. The role came to me...it was a dance film and that too to work opposite Madhuri Dixit, they said 'How can we dance alongside Madhuri Dixit ji!' Initially, I too said no to it as it was a dance film and competition dance with Madhuri Dixit. I said, 'This isn’t happening'. Then finally, Yash ji and Adi narrated the story to me. My mother told me, 'You must take up the challenge. You are a big fan of Madhuri Dixit, you must do it. You work hard and you will shine.”
