Allison's colleague revealed that she thought about the girls who didn't have their moms at home, and she wanted every girl in her class to feel like just like others; to do so, she would set up a salon-like setup in her classroom and do hairstyles for the kids. Recalling this, Allison's colleague said:

"She thought about the little girls who no longer had their mother to do their hair. She wanted them to walk into school looking and feeling like every other girl. She wanted their school days to feel as normal as possible."
