Add BollywoodShaadis on GoogleLindsay Clancy, the nurse from Duxbury, Massachusetts, has been in the headlines ever since information about the tragic incident in which she killed her three kids leaked. Lindsay was charged with three counts of first-degree murder and pleaded not guilty to the deaths of her children, Cora (5 years old), Dawson (3 years old), and Callan (8 months old).
While prosecutors claimed that Lindsay preplanned the murder of her three kids, her attorney didn't defend the same; however, according to him, the nurse should not be pleaded guilty, as what she did was due to her mental illness. Lindsay was suffering from postpartum psychosis, allegedly bipolar disorder as well. The trial in this case resumed on Monday (August 17, 2026) in Plymouth Superior Court, where Lindsay's mom and sister testified.
Lindsay Clancy's mom, Paula Musgrove, described her daughter as a 'dedicated' mother who would do anything for her kids. In court, Lindsay's mom revealed that her daughter's mental health started to decline in October 2022, three months before she strangled her kids to death. Paula showed a text in court that she received from Lindsay describing her condition.
In the text, Lindsay asked her mom to stay with her and revealed that she was extremely scared. Lindsay expressed her wish not to be alone and mentioned that she was suffering from insomnia and was not sure how she would go through the same. The exact alleged words of Lindsay were:
"Mom, will you please come up and stay with me for a bit? I'm really sick. Something is wrong. I had horrible insomnia all night, and I just don't know how I am going to get through the day. ... It's just really scary, and I don't want to be alone."
According to Paula Musgrove, she was staying with Lindsay from October to December 2022. She revealed that she stayed with her daughter often. In court, Paula mentioned that her daughter was scared to sleep alone and eventually turned paranoid, as she believed that her medications were completely destroying her mind.
For the unversed, last week Lindsay's psychiatrist also testified, and she was asked about her telehealth session with the mom of three, even when her condition worsened. In response, the psychiatrist revealed that it had never occurred to her that Lindsay's condition had reached that point, and she believed she had all the necessary information. The psychiatrist also remained 'surprised' to learn that Clancy called suicide hotlines twice during the time she was seeking treatment.
Coming back, Lindsay Clancy's mom, Paula, confessed in court that in December 2022, her daughter had shared shocking information with her and Patrick. According to Paula, she and Patrick were standing near the kitchen when Lindsay told them nervously that she thought of harming her kids. Recalling the moment, Paula said:
"She told us she had thoughts of harming the children."
It was on January 24, 2026, when Lindsay Clancy reportedly sent her husband to pick up food, and when he returned home, he found the nurse in their yard, as she tried to take her own life by jumping off the second-story window. Lindsay was asked about the kids, and she didn't share anything about harming them, but said that the little ones were in the basement. Patrick reached there and found his three kids dead, being strangled by a resistance band.
