On July 18, 2026, Miss Universe Jamaica organization shared a post for LaToya Malcom, recalling her contribution. They mourned her passing with a tribute post. LaToya was just 35 years old at the time of her death. However, the cause of death wasn't revealed. The statement can be read as:
"We are deeply saddened by the passing of Miss Universe Jamaica alumna LaToya Malcolm, who proudly competed in the 2024 Miss Universe Jamaica Competition. Our heartfelt condolences are with her family, friends, and loved ones. Rest peacefully, LaToya. You will never be forgotten."
Malcom was a famous Jamaican-based actor and entertainer with over a decade of experience in the entertainment world. She was part of the Miss Universe Jamaica Pageant in 2024, and she even went on to hold the Miss Jamaica Bikini International title.
Fans expressed shock by sharing their messages on Instagram. One user wrote, "Grief is weird because the main question on my mind is what happened to Latoya? She was thriving, and she was well. She was here, and now she's not. Just like that? Condolences don't make sense right now, because I don't believe she's gone. I still have to go watch her act in one of her shows. We still have catching up to do. What do you mean she's gone? Forever? She's not just asleep, but gone?"
Another one penned, "I met her in 2024 when I did makeup for Miss Universe East, and to hear this has shaken my world. So young and talented. May God comfort her family and friends." A third user wrote, "She was such a wonderful person. When I met and worked with her in 2024, she was a breath of fresh air. Even though she was grieving her dad’s passing at the time, she pushed through the Miss Universe competition. Rest In Sweet Peace, Latty."
A fourth penned, "She was so full of light, always joyful. I’m still struggling to comprehend how this could even be possible. My condolences to her family and friends." A user commented, "So sad. I had been following her progress. And I am shocked to hear this current update. May her soul rest in peace. RIP."
LaToya Malcom was also a dance instructor, as per a newspaper article. In 2024, she won the Bikini International round of the Miss Jamaica pageant. It was a milestone year as she was able to win the contest despite the passing of her father, and took home the crown. She wrote in a post on Instagram:
"My beloved father, Mr Malcolm, this win was for you. Your one and only daughter continues to make you proud. I know you’re smiling down on me from heaven."
She also worked with the Transition project, which aimed to give training and resources for adolescents to navigate new opportunities. She was also a host, and proudly flaunted her titles on her Instagram bio, where she had over 3k followers.
