Add BollywoodShaadis on GoogleKimberly Guilfoyle has been under fire over mounting allegations of misconduct that led to her resignation as the U.S. Ambassador to Greece on October 13, 2026, after the White House publicly asked for her departure. Amid reports of leaked chats and an alleged request for USD 100,000 from a Republican donor to cover her American Express bill, a new report suggests Guilfoyle sought USD 250,000 from wealthy Greek businessmen to pay off loans on her luxury car.
According to the Daily Mail, four Greek and State Department insiders claimed that Guilfoyle approached prominent businessmen in mid-2025 for financial help with the luxury vehicle. The businessmen allegedly declined her request, and she didn't receive the money.
The reported request has raised additional questions about Guilfoyle's personal finances during the period leading up to her appointment as ambassador. The Daily Mail reported that Guilfoyle sought USD 250,000 to settle the debt on her Mercedes-Benz G-Wagon, which was reportedly not mentioned in her mandatory federal financial disclosure forms.
The publication noted that her disclosure listed a loan related to a boat advance, with a reported liability between USD 100,000 and USD 250,000. The creditor, Azure Funding, reportedly specializes in marine and aviation financing. However, the disclosure doesn't establish any connection between the reported liability and the vehicle in question.
Guilfoyle's alleged conduct at the U.S. Embassy in Athens has also grabbed attention. According to a Daily Mail report, Greek officials had been reluctant to meet with her, and she was also allegedly excluded from an important meeting between State Secretary Marco Rubio and the Greek prime minister during Rubio's visit to Greece.
These allegations add to the growing list of controversies against Guilfoyle's name that reportedly prompted an investigation by a State Department Office of Inspector General. The former ambassador is reportedly also facing allegations of potential substance abuse, gifts and luxury accommodations, private aircraft use, and the treatment of embassy employees. Guilfoyle's team, however, has denied the accusations.
The latest allegations follow a separate report by The Wall Street Journal concerning Guilfoyle's alleged request for USD 100,000 from Republican donor Eric Deters shortly before her Senate confirmation hearing in July 2025. The WSJ reported that the leaked text exchanges on Signal showed Guilfoyle asking Deters to send the money directly to her American Express account.
According to The Wall Street Journal, Guilfoyle allegedly wrote that a wire transfer to her American Express account would not show up elsewhere. She reportedly called Eric Deters twice and provided instructions for sending the money. The outlet also reported that Guilfoyle suggested Deters could gain access to senior Trump administration officials to help with his personal legal and tax disputes. The latter reportedly declined the request, saying that sending the money could put his marriage at risk.
Now, with the reported USD 250K request, the public scrutiny has intensified against Guilfoyle. The Daily Mail suggested that the alleged approaches occurred as she was dealing with significant credit card bills and preparing to take up her diplomatic post.
Following the negative reports about Guilfoyle's lifestyle and conduct, President Donald Trump reportedly asked her to resign as the U.S. Ambassador to Greece. Her resignation was confirmed on October 13, 2026. One U.S. official reportedly told the Daily Mail that "Nobody in the U.S. wants her back."
Guilfoyle, however, has strongly rejected the accusations, and her legal team labeled them as false. In a statement posted on X, she wrote:
"These allegations are false, and I intend to vigorously defend my name, my reputation, and my integrity. I have dedicated my professional life to fighting for justice, standing up for what is right, and defending the values that make America exceptional. I will not allow false accusations to define my decades of public service."
As of now, the allegations about the luxury car and American Express bill remain disputed. What are your thoughts on these new claims against her?
