Kianna Underwood's sudden, unnatural death left her friends, family and fans devastated. Her father, Anthony Underwood, shared his heartbreak through a poignant post.
Kianna Underwood, a former Nickelodeon star, tragically passed away on Friday, January 16, 2026 (ET). Her sudden death left her family and friends shocked. The former actress was just 33 years old when she was fatally struck by a vehicle, leading to her death on the spot. The unnatural demise left fans with many questions, including how the incident occurred, whether the perpetrator was caught, and what Kianna's family must be feeling. Recently, her father opened up about her accident, sharing an emotional statement regarding the deceased as well as calling out her killer.
In a now-deleted Facebook post shared on January 17, 2026, Kianna Underwood's father, Anthony Underwood, wrote an anecdote regarding a dead fox, to indicate the horrors of his daughter's hit-and-run case. He shared a personal story about seeing a fox hit by a car. He and his partner witnessed the scene from their car and considered helping the injured animal. However, before they could do anything, the fox was run over by another car, killing it. Anthony recalled the heartbreak he felt back then after the news of his own daughter's similar plight surfaced. His post could be read as:
"So this one time [my partner] Tia Ynvme Taylor and I were in the Catskills and we saw this fox on the road. I could tell it had been hit. It was a dangerous curved road and I contemplated moving our car into the middle of the road so it wouldn't get hit again. But before I could do anything someone came around the corner and didnt slow down when I started flashing my highbeams. So the driver ran over the fox, I remember the horror I felt when I saw that."
Anthony Underwood's fox anecdote had a slight comforting part at the end. After the animal died, a bystander showed it compassion by moving it to the side of the road. Anthony used this memory to express his grief and anger over the circumstances of Kianna's death. The former Nickelodeon star's father questioned if his daughter was shown similar "compassion" or left to die like "roadkill" after she suffered her fatal double hit-and-run in Brooklyn. Notably, previously it was reported that a grey car hit Kianna Underwood; however, the latest update by Entertainment Weekly suggested that it was actually the drivers of two cars who led to Kianna's untimely death. He wrote:
"Another driver pulled over and picked the fox up who was still alive and put it on the side of the road. All I can think about is did anyone show my baby that same compassion, as someone ran her over like roadkill. Did anyone try to comfort my baby as she laid dying in the street alone, or did they just stand around with their phones."
The accident that killed Kianna Underwood occurred in the early morning of January 16, 2026 (at approximately 6:50 a.m. ET) at the intersection of Watkins Street and Pitkin Avenue in the Brownsville neighbourhood. At that time, the All That actress was at a crosswalk when she was struck by a black 2021 Ford Explorer SUV that was driving "counterflow" to traffic. Following that, another black-and-grey sedan travelling westbound on Pitkin Avenue hit her. The former Nickelodeon child actress was reportedly dragged for nearly two blocks by the vehicle.
Surveillance footage from a nearby laundromat captured Kianna Underwood's body tumbling out from underneath the car as it continued down the block without stopping. The outcome of the accident was extremely tragic. Kianna sustained severe trauma to her head and torso and was pronounced dead at the scene by EMS. Her perpetrators remain at large. As news of the body identification surfaced, Kianna Underwood's fans expressed shock and disbelief.
