Years after Matthew Perry's overdose death in 2023, 'Ketamine Queen' Jasveen Sangha, who sold him the ketamine, finally got her prison sentence.
Actor, Matthew Perry tragically passed away at the age of 52 in October 2023. At the time, his cause of death was revealed to be the acute effects of ketamine, as per an autopsy report from the same year. Now, justice has finally been served as the woman who admitted to supplying Matthew with the drug received her sentence on April 8, 2026.
A woman who had previously admitted to distributing the ketamine that reportedly caused much-loved actor, Matthew Perry's death in 2023 was finally sentenced to 15 years in federal prison on Wednesday, March 8, 2026. Last year, in September 2025, Jasveen Sangha, who has been dubbed the 'Ketamine Queen' by federal prosecutors, pleaded guilty to a number of charges. This includes one count of maintaining a drug-involved premises, three counts of distribution of ketamine, and one count of distribution of ketamine resulting in death or serious bodily injury.
According to prosecutors, she was responsible for distributing drugs to Erik Fleming, an acquaintance of Matthew Perry's. Erik then went on to distribute them to Kenneth Iwamasa, Matthew's live-in assistant. As prosecutors pointed out, this means that Erik was an intermediary between Jasveen and Kenneth.
Prosecutors claimed that it was in October 2023 that Jasveen and Erik sold vials of ketamine to Matthew via Kenneth. On October 28, 2023, Kenneth reportedly injected at least 3 shots of the acquired ketamine into the 54-year-old actor's body. This is what caused Matthew Perry's untimely death. A press release by the U.S. Attorney's office, Central District of California, stated:
"After learning from news reports of Perry’s death, Sangha called Fleming on Signal to discuss how to distance themselves from it. That day, Sangha updated the settings on the Signal app to automatically delete her messages with Fleming. She further instructed Fleming to 'Delete all our messages.'"
For those unaware, Matthew Perry was discovered face down in his jacuzzi at his LA home on October 28, 2023. Later, when an autopsy was conducted, it was revealed that the Friends actor had died from the acute effects of ketamine. Other contributing factors to his death include drowning, coronary artery disease, and effects from buprenorphine, a medication known to treat opioid use disorder.
A sentencing memorandum obtained by People revealed that prosecutors had asked for a 15-year prison sentence, and that's exactly what they got. In the memo, the prosecutors had allegedly claimed that Jasveen, despite finding out that the ketamine she sold to Matthew Perry caused his overdose death, kept on selling drugs. They wrote:
"She didn't care and kept selling. [The] Defendant's actions show a cold callousness and disregard for life. She chose profits over people, and her actions have caused immense pain to the victims' families and loved ones. That defendant had the opportunity to stop after realising the impact of her dealing — but simply chose not to."
Apart from Jasveen, four others have pleaded guilty in connection with Matthew Perry's death. This includes Erik, Kenneth, as well as doctors, Salvador Plasencia and Mark Chavez. According to reports, Salvador was sentenced to 30 months in federal prison in December 2025. On the other hand, Mark was sentenced to 8 months of home detention in addition to three years of supervised release.
