TMZ learned on September 25, 2026, that 44-year-old Keke was arrested on September 20, 2026, in Georgia. According to reports, Keke was booked into the Henry County jail for terroristic threats, simple assault, and cruelty to children. A rep for the Henry County Sheriff's Office revealed that Keke Wyatt was released two days later, on September 22, 2026, after posting a USD 1,050 bond. Now, a while back, Keke took to her Instagram handle to open up about her arrest.
In a statement, Keke’s team shared that the 44-year-old singer-songwriter was not charged with cruelty to children, terroristic threats, or aggravated assault. According to Keke’s team, it was a simple assault. The statement mentioned that they are particularly concerned by the circulation of allegations involving cruelty to children, as this is an extremely serious matter. According to Keke’s team, the Henry County court documentation did not reflect the cruelty to children charge. An excerpt from the note can be read as:
"Contrary to information currently being circulated, the Henry County court documentation reflects one charge: Simple Assault."
In the same note, Keke’s team clarified that they are not offering any excuses or asking anyone to prejudice the circumstances surrounding the case. They highlighted that they want the true information to be circulated. Keke’s team added that the information involving children was completely false.
The R&B sensation’s team ended the statement by sharing that Keke would respect the process and address the matter through the appropriate legal channels. They asked media outlets and social media platforms that published inaccurate charging information to correct the record. In the same note, Keke’s team confirmed that the 44-year-old singer-songwriter’s performance schedule remains unchanged.
Keke Wyatt was born as Ketara Shavon Wyatt on March 10, 1982, in Indianapolis, Indiana. She grew up in a musical family. Her mother was a singer, and her father was a church organist. Due to her family’s connection with music, Keke began singing at a young age, including in church choirs. She began getting attention in the late 1990s after working with different musicians, most notably her duet with Avant on the hit cover of My First Love when she was only 15 years old.
Keke released her first album, Soul Sista, in 2001, and it soon became a hit and sold more than one million copies. Apart from being a singer and songwriter, Keke has also tried her luck in theatre. In 2009, she entered the world of theatre and played a leading role in the stage play Love Overboard. In 2012, she became part of the reality TV show R&B Divas: Atlanta, where she appeared for all three seasons.

Keke Wyatt’s first marriage to Rahmat Morton lasted for nine years, from 2000 to 2009. Later, in 2010, she got married to Michael Ford. However, in 2018, they called it quits. Keke’s third marriage to Zackariah Darring lasted for six years, from 2018 to 2024.
