Amid the release of the film, Katy is finally relishing some downtime after being on the road for her tour for 16 long months. Now, in a recent interview, Katy opened up about her ‘legendary love’ with Justin Trudeau.
For those unaware, Katy Perry took her daughter, Daisy, along with her while she was on her Lifetimes Tour. While speaking with PEOPLE, the singer admitted that she is happy that Daisy gets to see her mother “in her purpose” and being strong. According to her, not every day on tour was easy. She called 2025 especially hard because she went through a very public breakup with Daisy’s father and her partner of nearly 10 years, Orlando Bloom.
As she weathered the breakup, Katy continued to shine on stage. And in the process, she got to meet her new boyfriend, Justin Trudeau. She said, “I learned how to step back into my purpose, and I got the greatest gift from this tour: I got to meet the love of my life.”
Katy had begun touring in April 2025, just months before it was confirmed that she split from her former fiancé. The Dark Horse singer was reportedly in Australia when the news shook her fan base in July 2025. Recalling that time, she said:
“It was probably the hardest time. My friends were all hanging out back home. I was crying and just feeling far away. But then my angels went to work. They really showed up.”
Katy sparked romance rumors with Justin at the end of the same month. The duo was spotted out on a dinner date in Montreal, and two days later, Justin was seen at her show with his daughter from his previous marriage. Katy claimed that “things shifted” after she met Justin on tour. She revealed that she wrote down a list of things she wanted to manifest in August 2025. In number 10, she wrote, “True Love.” At present, Katy believes “that's where we're at.”
It was in October 2025 that Katy Perry and Justin Trudeau went public with their relationship while stepping out for the singer's birthday in Paris. Fast forward to June 2026, the couple made their red carpet debut at the Tribeca Festival premiere of the Teenage Dream singer's concert film.
According to Katy, each relationship that she has been in taught her something or the other. And in order to move forward, she had to let it go. Katy confessed that she talked to her therapist about wanting a “legendary love,” and soon after this, Justin showed up in her life. She said:
“I wouldn’t have stayed in something for nine years if there wasn’t really important things to learn. Each relationship is a teacher, right? I had to let it go so I could move forward. I always wanted this epic legendary love, and I was talking to my therapist about it: Everything in my life is epic, but this is kind of the missing puzzle piece - then it showed up.”
Katy gushed about how the former Canadian Prime Minister just “knows the words” and is super supportive of her. She said that he is “really heart-centered,” something that helps them align as a pair.
