The long-running legal fight involving exes Katy Perry and Orlando Bloom appears to be far from over. New developments say the former couple could face another round of legal probing over their former family home in Montecito, California. Elderly businessman Carl Westcott, who sold the USD 15 million estate to the exes in 2020, is now seeking permission to question Perry and Bloom about the money he claims has remained unpaid from the deal.

Katy Perry and Orlando Bloom's long-running property dispute returns to court

According to new court filings obtained by TMZ, Westcott says Perry made a partial payment of USD 900,000 in June 2026 but has yet to pay the remaining balance. His latest request could bring Perry and Bloom back into a property dispute that has dragged on for years.

The latest development stems from the sale of the eight-bedroom Montecito estate in 2020. Perry and Bloom, who were dating at the time, agreed to purchase the property through Perry's business manager, Bernie Gudvi. The couple reportedly wanted the home as a place to raise their daughter, Daisy Dove, who was born in August 2020.

Days after signing the agreement, Westcott attempted to reverse the sale, arguing that he had not been in a mentally fit position to decide because he was recovering from back surgery and was under the influence of strong pain medications. He also cited his diagnosis of Huntington's disease in the filing and said he was in hospice care.

Eventually, the dispute reached the Los Angeles County Superior Court, and in December 2023, Judge Joseph Lipner ruled that Westcott had not presented persuasive evidence that he lacked the mental capacity to agree to the sale. After the ruling, Perry and Bloom gained physical possession of the property in May 2024.

However, the dispute didn't end there. Under the transaction, Gudvi reportedly paid Westcott USD 9 million and retained another USD 6 million while the legal battle continued. Perry also sought damages for losses that she said were caused by the lengthy dispute, including rental income losses and repair expenses.

In November 2025, a judge awarded the Dark Horse singer approximately USD 1.84 million in damages, according to court documents previously reported by PEOPLE. The award covered a portion of the claimed rental losses and repair costs, and the damages were intended to be accounted for against the outstanding purchase money. This left the parties to resolve the remaining financial obligations within themselves.

Carl Westcott wants to question Katy Perry and Orlando Bloom over property transaction

In his latest filing, Westcott is asking the court for permission to subpoena Perry and Bloom. If granted, the subpoenas would allow him to question them about the money he says they still owe him from the property transaction. However, Perry's business manager has pushed back against the subpoena request, arguing that there is no emergency that requires the ex-couple to be questioned at the moment.

According to TMZ, the pop star's manager, Gudvi, has maintained that the remaining amount cannot be paid to Westcott until their other ongoing appeal is resolved (Westcott allegedly owes Gudvi approximately USD 3 million). The manager says the subpoena request is Carl's attempt to harass the former couple. A judge's ruling is pending in the matter.

The Montecito estate features eight bedrooms, 11 bathrooms, a three-bedroom guesthouse and extensive outdoor amenities across approximately 2.5 acres. Its grounds include an infinity pool, a jacuzzi, and ocean views. Perry and Bloom initially purchased the property as their family home, but it remains unclear whether they lived there after gaining possession. Previous reports said the property was being rented out.

The new filing could bring the former couple together well after their relationship ended in 2025. Perry began dating the actor in 2016 and got engaged in 2019, but the marriage never happened. They welcomed their daughter, Daisy Dove, on August 20, 2020, and she recently turned six. The exes continue to co-parent Daisy.
