Towns and Woods met through mutual friends “years” before they started dating. However, they publicly never confirmed how they met. They became great friends and soon COVID struck their lives in the worst manner. In April 2020, Towns lost his mom, Jacqueline, due to complications from COVID. On the other hand, Woods had already lost her father to cancer in 2017.
It was during the most testing phase of their lives that the two became each other’s strength. They went public with their relationship and since then, have had each other to lean on. Speaking about how he started dating Woods right after his mother’s death, Towns said:
“A woman that meant so much to me in my life left my life to be replaced by another woman who took that spot. I feel, in a way, when my mom passed, she’s like, 'I’m not going to leave you alone. I'm going to make sure you know who you are supposed to be with.’ I leaned on her because she’s one of those only people who actually knew how I was feeling and what I was going through.”
Ever since making their relationship Instagram official, the duo was spotted together supporting each other. Towns had been very vocal about his love for Woods. In one of his IG posts, he mentioned how she had been with him during the loss of his family, took care of him after he met with a tragic accident and during his time in rehab.
From vacations to Paris Fashion Week debut in 2022, Towns and Woods have been the power couple. In September 2022, when Woods turned a year older, Towns gave a unique birthday gift to his lady love. In a letter, which he posted on Instagram, Towns mentioned that Woods wanted to start a business. In his letter, he announced that he would be funding Woods' business to make her dreams come true. They took their relationship to another level by purchasing a USD 14 million, 7-bedroom home.
Karl-Anthony Towns and Jordyn Woods got engaged on Christmas Eve in 2025. Karl popped the question at a rooftop bar called Overstory in New York City. Talking about the surprise proposal, Woods told a leading publication:
“I had no clue he was going to [propose] but I did start getting slightly superstitious the night before when he was asking me about when I was getting my hair done. The craziest part of this whole story is that he was actually going to propose at a different time but due to his schedule the only free day that lined up was Christmas Eve.”
After six years of dating, Woods and Towns got married on August 16, 2026. For the ceremony, Woods wore a strapless white gown with a long train, along with a lace scarf and veil. On the other hand, Towns chose a classic black tuxedo. Guests were asked to wear black, giving the ceremony a simple look.
