Karisma Kapoor Divorced Her Ex-Husband, Sanjay Kapur In 2016, Here Is What All She Got As Alimony

After 11 years of their marriage, Bollywood actress Karisma Kapoor and her husband Sunjay Kapur finally parted ways officially two years ago. On June 13, 2016, the couple was granted divorce by the Mumbai Family Court. It has been almost two years that the two have officially separated and moved on in their respective lives. And since then, Karisma is living with both her kids, Samaira and Kiaan, in Mumbai.

Sanjay and Karisma married each other in 2003 and Karisma had filed for divorce in 2014. While it happened as per mutual consent, things got dirty when Karisma alleged Sanjay for not complying with the financial commitments.

After that, Sunjay claimed that Karisma married him only for money. They were in a fight over the custody of their kids as well, and a legal battle was going on between them since then, which finally got over with their official divorce.

After the divorce proceedings had got over, Sunjay’s lawyer, Aman Hingorani was quoted by Mid-Day as saying:

"We informed the Family court about matter being resolved amicably at Supreme Court and also that the terms are settled. The court then granted divorce to the couple."

What did Karisma get?

As per various reports, Karisma did not really got anything for herself. Giving further details, another lawyer involved in this case was quoted by Mid-Day as saying:

"Karisma will get Sunjay's father's house (in Khar) transferred in her name. Sunjay has to purchase bonds worth Rs 14 crore for the children, which will attract a monthly interest of around Rs 10 lakh."

A report by leading entertainment tabloid, Spotboye, stated that Sunjay would have to bear all the expenses of the kids.

Also, another report stated at the same time that Karisma would get the jewellery that was given to her by Sanjay and his family at the time of their marriage.

While the custody of the kids was already granted to Karisma, it was decided that Sanjay will have occasional access to them. As per a source mentioned in Spotboye:

"They can spend at least two-three months in a year with him if you add up all the days that he has been permitted."

Life ahead

After their divorce, Sunjay Kapoor married his rumoured girlfriend, Priya Sachdev, in an intimate ceremony in April 2017. On the other hand, Karisma is believed to be dating businessman, Sandeep Toshniwal, who is awaiting divorce from his first wife.
