Justin Trudeau's son, Xav, reacted to his dad's relationship with pop star Katy Perry. Xav also revealed what kind of relationship he shares with his dad's famous girlfriend.
Justin Trudeau and Katy Perry made headlines with their dating rumours back in July 2025, when they were frequently spotted together. It was in December 2025 when, after a whole lot of conversation, they made their relationship public through an IG post. Justin and Katy reportedly met at an event, and following this, things started to get intense, and they started dating.
After their public outing last summer, speculations were rife that the romance between the duo had fizzled out. However, soon a photo of the couple's passionate moments from a yacht made rounds on social media, leading people to firmly believe what was being speculated. After a few months in December 2025, the couple confirmed dating each other. Now, Justin's son, Xav had something to say about the same. For the unversed, Justin was married to Sophie Grégoire Trudeau, and together they have three kids. In a recent interview, Xavier spoke about his father's relationship with Katy while sharing the kind of bond he has with the pop star.
Xavier aspires to be a musician, and thus, his father's dating a pop star is simply thrilling. Speaking about the same in an interview with the Can't Be Censored podcast, Xav said that he gets professional suggestions from the pop star. Xav revealed that whenever he finishes a song, he instantly sends it to the singer, and she gives him suggestions and advice. He further called Katy a 'down-to-earth' person, while adding that she is 'great' and his dad's happy place. Xav could be quoted as saying:
"When I’m really happy with a song [I] send it [to her]. She’s always happy to give me advice or tell me what I should change. She’s super nice. She’s super down to earth. She’s great. I think that my dad’s happy so that’s important."
In the same podcast, Xav revealed that the pressure that comes with being related to a public figure isn't unknown to him and that he is quite familiar with the 'noise' around. He said that in all his life, he had to listen to the fact that he shouldn't just indulge his time in reading comments.
However, Xav said that it just helps him to read positive comments and work on himself. On the other hand, when it comes to the public noise about his father's dating life, he just takes it casually. Something that Xav described as 'just like any other picture of my dad and my mom. Or just my dad.' Speaking about the same, Xav revealed:
"My life is so crazy sometimes. I’m like, What is my life? What the hell? I just laugh. The reality of it is, it’s my life. What can I do? What can I change? I’ve been told my whole life, ‘Don’t read comments'. The hate, it gets to me sometimes. I guess it’s built into my brain, I think of it as when someone comments on my video, when someone shares my video, when someone likes it, it just helps me."
For the unversed, Justin was married to Sophie. The duo has known each other since their childhood, and the former was the latter's brother's classmate. They crossed paths again as adults in 2003, and in 2004, they got engaged. In 2005, the ex-couple got married and then hopped onto the parenthood journey with their three kids. It was in 2023 when Sophie and Justin, through a statement, announced their separation. Katy, on the other hand, was engaged to Orlando Bloom. The couple had been together for several years, however, they called it quits back in June 2025. The couple shares a daughter together.
