Justin Baldoni has filed legal documents, asking for Blake Lively's net worth to be discussed during the upcoming trail. Find out why.
It seems that the drama surrounding Blake Lively and Justin Baldoni isn't about to die anytime soon. This is especially the case considering their ongoing legal battle. For those unaware, it all stemmed from the creative differences between Justin and Blake when they were shooting the adaptation of Coleen Hoover's It Ends With Us. At present, it has been reported that Justin is calling out Blake's request to block talk about her net worth from their upcoming trial.
According to a report by TMZ, Blake Lively had requested to block discussion of her net worth during their upcoming trial. Justin Baldoni, however, is not having any of this, as he told the New York judge that it is super important because the actress was the first one who brought up the topic of money. On Friday, April 17, 2026, Justin reportedly filed legal documents in which he alleged that Blake is rolling in a lot of dough. According to him, it is relevant because she previously alleged losing millions of dollars due to the smear campaign she claimed Justin had orchestrated against her. If Blake's words are to be believed, she claims to have lost a whopping USD 161 million when Justin seemingly tarnished her name.
As per the legal documents obtained by TMZ, Justin not only wants Blake's financial streams and income status to come to light during the trial, but also those of her husband, Ryan Reynolds. Justin argues that it needs to be discussed because the actress “typically does not accept acting opportunities which conflict with Ryan's acting schedule.” This is especially the case when Ryan brings in a higher income from his movies than she does.
As per TMZ, Blake and Ryan are reportedly worth around USD 380 million. As you can already guess, this figure is unrelated to an average jury member. For those unaware, the judge had previously dismissed Blake's defamation claim, so it remains to be seen whether her financial loss from the claim is still relevant at this point.
The same publication also revealed that Justin has requested Ryan Reynolds' well-known character, ‘Nicepool’ from Deadpool & Wolverine, to be brought up on the trail. Unsurprisingly, Blake had also asked for this subject to be barred during the upcoming trial. Justin's argument for bringing up ‘Nicepool’ is that the character allegedly makes fun of him; this makes both Blake and her husband the real bullies.
According to the actor, the topic will help the jury understand how his image was under assault within a rather popular movie and why Justin had engaged a crisis management team. He claims that this was the only reason he needed the crisis team, not to retaliate against Blake, as she alleged.
In a recent court hearing, a judge dismissed 10 of the 13 claims Blake brought against Justin. Some of the claims included sexual harassment, defamation, and conspiracy, among others. Reportedly, the claims were removed on legal grounds rather than for factual inaccuracies. For instance, the fact that Blake Lively was working as an independent contractor during the filming of It Ends With Us, rather than as an employee, meant that some federal protections did not apply to her. However, Blake's lawyer, Michael Gottlieb, had claimed that the judge had just narrowed down the case to its core claims and that the court believed his client had provided sufficient evidence to prove that she was the real victim on set.
