Despite Julie's popularity, Scott has mostly stayed away from the Hollywood spotlight to live a more private life. Rather, they built a simple life with their three sons, with Oliver, 19 and 17-year-old twins, Gustave and John.
After more than a decade of their marriage, Julie and Scott separated in 2017. Later, the actress filed for a divorce in February 2018, which was finalised towards the end of the year.
According to the court documents, Julie mentioned "irreconcilable differences" as the reason for their divorce. Although neither she nor Scott shared the specifics about what caused the end of their marriage, some reports suggested that they had simply grown apart and lived separate lives.
In contrast to most high-profile celebrity breakups, their separation was drama-free. Neither Julie nor Scott made any public comment against the other. In fact, their divorce settlement reportedly included an equal division of their shared assets. Over the years, the former couple has maintained a healthy co-parenting bond.

For instance, when their son, Oliver, left home in 2025 to attend the University of Oregon, Julie shared a special message on social media about how quickly it had passed.
After nearly eight years of her separation from Scott, Julie confirmed that she is dating someone new. She recently spoke at Step Up's 2026 Annual Inspiration Awards in Los Angeles and described that her new partner is a "lovely friend" and revealed that he is both "smart and funny".
However, Julie decided not to reveal his identity. She admitted that he is good, despite acknowledging that personality matters more than appearance. In her words:
"I need smart and funny. Those are the two [characteristics I look for in a partner]," Julie added. "I don't care what people look like though he happens to be good-looking. But I don't care what people look like. I like the brains."
