Throughout his career, Johnny Depp has given several iconic performances; however, he has never won an Oscars. For the unversed, he received his first nomination in 2004 for the film, Pirates of the Caribbean: The Curse of the Black Pearl. But he lost the awards to Sean Penn. In 2005, he earned his second nomination and the third one came in 2008. In 2015, he opened up about the same and shared:
"I don't want to win one of those things ever, you know. I don't want to have to talk. They gave me one of those things, like a nomination, two or three times. A nomination is plenty. The idea of winning means that you're in competition with someone and I'm not in competition with anybody."
It is also worth mentioning that since 2008, Johnny Depp has not even received an Oscar nomination. While some believe that the reason behind the same is that he stepped away from dramatic films, others think that his controversies and legal battle with ex-wife, Amber Heard made him back out from the limelight.
Johnny Depp first got married to makeup artist, Lori Anne Allison in 1983. If reports are to be believed, at that time, the actor was only 20 years old and was trying to build a name for himself in the industry. On the other hand, Lori, who was a makeup artist, helped him meet several celebrities. Even though, things seemed good in the beginning, the two started facing problems soon and ended their marriage in 1985. Reports claimed that they got divorced as they had different life goals.
Years later in 2011, Johnny Depp met actress, Amber Heard while working on the film, The Rum Diary and soon began dating. In 2014, the couple got engaged and the next year, in 2015, the duo tied the knot in a private ceremony in Los Angeles. However, their forever lasted for only 15 months.
In 2016, Amber filed for divorce, which was eventually finalised in 2017. But what grabbed attention was that the actress accused the actor of domestic violence. Even though, Johnny denied the accusations, it became the most talked-about topic. It is worth mentioning that Amber received USD 7 million as divorce settlement, which she had allegedly donated to charity. After the divorce, in 2018, Amber wrote an opinion article about domestic violence, which later made Johnny file a defamation case against her.
Before getting married to Amber Heard, Johnny Depp was also in a serious relationship with Vanessa Paradis. Reportedly, they started dating in 1998 and stayed together for nearly 14 years. It is worth mentioning that even though they never tied the knot, they welcomed two children, Lily Rose Depp and Jack Depp. However, eventually they started facing problems and parted ways in 2012. The exact reason behind their separation was never revealed.
