Dr Jill Biden's ex-husband has landed himself in some serious trouble. For the unversed, it was on Tuesday, February 3, 2026, when William was booked on a murder charge in the death of his current wife, Linda. William's name emerged in the case after his wife was found unresponsive at their Delaware house, with authorities believing that he might be connected to her sudden passing. He was later arraigned and is being held at Howard Young Correctional Institution on a USD 500,000 bond. However, whether he had a legal representation at this time remains unclear.
William and Linda Stevenson were living in their home in New Castle County, Delaware, when the tragedy occurred. According to reports, the police were responding to a call about a "domestic dispute" when they found an unresponsive person inside the home. The woman was later identified as William Stevenson's wife, Linda. As per the reports, the police arrived at the Stevenson house at 11:16 pm on December 28, 2025.
Upon their arrival, the responders found Linda unresponsive on the floor and, despite life-saving efforts, was pronounced dead at the scene. According to reports by The Daily Mail, the police's initial statement didn't share many details about their investigation or Linda Stevenson’s cause or manner of death. It has been over a month since the tragedy struck. However, the cause of death still remains unknown to the public.
William Stevenson was married to the former lady of the United States, Dr Jill Jacobs, from 1970 to 1975. Jill went on to marry the 46th President of the United States in 1977, becoming one of the most prominent political couples in the United States. According to reports, William Stevenson has alleged that Jill Biden was having an affair with Joe Biden while still being married to him. However, Jill Biden's representatives have consistently rejected these accusations. In an interview with the newspaper during Joe Biden's 2020 presidential campaign, William alleged that Jill became close to Biden while they were both working on Biden's New Castle County Council campaign in the mid-1970s. He was quoted as saying:
"One of her best friends told me she thought Joe and Jill were getting a little too close. I was surprised that she came to me. Her father was begging me to take her back… but I wasn’t interested."
