Bafana Bafana and Mamelodi Sundowns midfielder Jayden Adams, passed away at the age of 25. It was only weeks ago that he represented his country at the FIFA World Cup 2026. With the sudden passing of Jayden, the South African football team and the young professional's fans were left in shock.

The news of Jayden's death was confirmed by African broadcaster eNCAr, however, the cause of his death has not been officially disclosed yet. While no official cause of Jayden Adams' demise at such a young age has been revealed, unverified claims are being made on social media, with people claiming that the cause might be suicide or food poisoning. 

Jayden Adams' emotional tribute to his grandmother surfaced amid his passing at the age of 25

Nothing has been officially confirmed just yet. To mention, it was just a few days back when Jayden lost his grandmother and gave an emotional tribute to her. And amid his passing, now his not-so-old statement is doing the rounds on social media. Jayden Adams' grandmom passed away just a day before South Africa was scheduled to face the Czech Republic.

Jayden Adams took a moment and offered a tribute; however, he kept his emotions aside and started the game for his nation the next day. Speaking about his grandmother, Jayden said that while his legs were playing, his heart was left in heaven with his grandmother. He also mentioned that his grandmother was the reason that he reached where he was. In the heartbreaking tribute, Jayden said:

"My legs were playing, but my heart was in heaven with her. She's the reason I'm here... Wearing the green and gold meant everything to her."

Jayden Adams was born in 2001, and at the time of his passing, he was in his mid-20s. From a young age, Jayden started taking an interest in football, and his family helped him throughout his journey. Jayden's father would push him to compete against seniors from a very young age as his skills started grabbing his attention.

He began with local club Nelson, where he honed his skills. After his collaboration with Maties FC, Ajax Cape Town’s academy and Glen Eagles, Jayden Adams joined the Stellenbosch FC academy and eventually became one of the most talented figures there.

In 2020, Adams became the first academy graduate to sign a contract with the senior team of Stellenbosch FC. Jayden made his Premier Division debut against Chippa United. While it was the beginning, Jayden joined Mamelodi Sundowns in 2025 and helped them win the 2025-26 CAF Champions League and the 2024-25 South African Betway Premiership. 2026 marked one of the biggest achievements for Jayden as he was featured for South Africa in the World Cup 2026, playing group stage matches against Mexico, Czechia and South Korea.

Reportedly, he was given two weeks of leave to recover after SA's World Cup campaign. At the age of 25, Jayden reached a place which someone couldn't even think of. Reportedly, he has already made a net worth of almost USD 1 million (approximately R9 million to R18 million). His net worth saw a massive jump in 2025 after he joined Mamelodi Sundowns, with whom he reportedly had a contract till 2028, along with an annual salary package of R190K per month.
