Add BollywoodShaadis on GoogleNolan Wells passed away after disappearing in early July 2026. According to reports, he was with a couple of friends at the Northwest end of Horn Island when he went missing after a boat trip. After a lengthy search, his remains were found on July 6, 2026. While his passing was initially called an accident, it is now being looked into as a criminal investigation. Amid that, the funeral plans for the young man have been changed, and now Jasmine Crockett has reacted to the entire incident, calling it a "racial issue".
The Congresswoman from Texas, Jasmine Crockett, recently spoke to TMZ about the incidents leading to Nolan Wells' passing. She revealed that her spidey-senses were on high alert when she heard Nolan disappeared in the presence of 3 white guys. She alleged that this is not just a problem with the Nolan Wells case, but rather it's a problem in Mississippi, where she says you have to be blind not to question if race plays a part in such a case. She stated:
"I think that specifically as black Americans in the United States right now, we are always going to question whether or not there is a racial motivation, but also if you know the history of Mississippi, I think that you'd have to be blind not to question potentially what is happening, especially in the case of an 18 year old who ends up deceased, without his cell phone without any communication whatsoever with anybody."
In the same conversation, she pointed out how Nolan Wells was out with his white friends who didn't even bother to inform the police or the 18-year-old's parents that their child had gone missing. However, she applauded Nolan's legal team and his parents for pushing for an investigation and said:
"Prior to ending up deceased, he was out with his Caucasian friends, and then law enforcement tells everybody there's no foul play to be suspected now; a blind man could see that there's something to investigate, and so I want to applaud the legal team. Ben Crump and his team, as well as his parents, for not giving up and accepting no as an answer. I absolutely think that...I can tell you that we don't have any answers, but if you think that race is not something to look at, then you're not really trying to investigate."
Jasmine Crockett pointed out that what she found weird was the fact that the three white kids deleted their social media soon after Nolan's disappearance. When asked about whether things would be different if Nolan was white, Jasmine asserted that the officials would have worked very differently and his friends would be in jail with no questions asked. She added:
"I am looking at the fact that these white kids deleted their social media accounts; it's not likely they sat down and talked to law enforcement. It's not even like law enforcement decided to sit down and talk to them. They decided, 'Oh, the little black boy ended up dead without his cell phone, without his friends going and telling his parents that they have his cell phone.' They got to go track down and find the phone. It looks like a racial thing. But hey, maybe we'll find out that it wasn't."
On the other hand, reports are rife that changes have been made to Nolan Wells' funeral plans. According to the reports, Executive Director of the Mississippi Coast Coliseum and Convention Center in Biloxi, Sam Voisin, told WXXV that the funeral services will not be held at the convention center as previously reported. The funeral was planned for July 20, 2026. However, the decision has now been changed.
Amid that, journalist Sarah Fields has alleged that Nolan Wells' family was working through the logistics, but now they have changed their minds. She called the situation “sad,” stressing that race being made a factor in the case, and the social media trial Wells’ friends are being put through even when no foul play has been found yet, is disheartening.
