It all happened after his girlfriend of six years exposed him on Instagram and accused him of cheating on her. The news left many in shock, and it seems like he lost his job as NBA announcer.
According to a Front Office Sports report, Jacob has been fired after the allegation went viral online. It happened after Jacob's girlfriend took to his Instagram Stories in the middle of the night. She posted a photo of them together and wrote on his behalf that this is my girlfriend of six years, but I cheated on her with Loren Water, who is the sister of former NBA player, Lindy Waters III. The post can be read as:
"This is my girlfriend of six years. But I cheated on her with Loren Waters. So feel free to continue following me if you really think I'm a good guy because I'm not."

The couple have parted ways. In a lengthy Facebook post, Jacob's girlfriend mentioned that she was visiting his family for two weeks. However, on third day, she found out about Jacob's cheating. She stated that he woke up and his parents made him took down the story. She further asserted that you can be with a person for six year, yet they would cheat. She wrote:
"This is now his ex-girlfriend. I was visiting his family [with] him for two weeks (we were on day 3) when I found out about him and Loren. He woke up. And his parents made him take down the story. Stay safe out there[,] ladies. You can be 6 years in visiting grandparents one hour and sleeping in bed the next at his family home, and they still will cheat."
As soon as the post was shared, netizens reacted to the whole controversy on X. One user wrote, "He probably sleep and she got in his phone after she found it. Loren is a indian film maker out of Oklahoma so it checks out." Another commented, "From what I can gather, Jacob’s girlfriend likely took his phone (whilst he was sleeping???), and posted on his IG that he has been cheating on her with Lindy Waters III sister. What an absolute mess he’s found himself in."
A third user penned, "GF posting on his account? Bruh, how did she have your code? lol No reason to lose a job over a gf, if this was the case, society would be unemployed because of any mistake you make or error in judgement. Sad but true. Don't cheat might be safer." Another commented, "And what would she do if her actions caused him to get fired? The lack of foresight people have is amazing. Getting cheated on is not grounds for disturbing that person's livelihood."
Jacob Tobey has worked with Spurs, 9NEWs in Denver, Fox Sports, and Pac-12 Network. His firing from Spurs comes as a shock, as last month he announced that he signed a multi-year extension contract with the network.
