Amid this, reports surfaced claiming that Lalit might be seen in Salman Khan’s Bigg Boss 20.
According to reports, Bigg Boss 20 will premiere on September 6, 2026. It is worth mentioning that over the years, the show has become a fan favourite. Now amid the buzz, a report by Bollywood Bubble shared that the founder of IPL, Lalit Modi, will be seen in the upcoming season of Bigg Boss. Earlier, Bollywood Bubble confirmed that Sunil Pal, Geeta Basra and Rajat Bedi will be joining the upcoming season of the controversial but much-loved reality show, Bigg Boss 20.
And now, a source close to the pre-production of BB 20 has informed Bollywood Bubble that the makers of the reality show have approached Lalit Modi to be part of the reality show as a contestant. While an official announcement is awaited, Sushmita Sen’s ex-partner’s reported association with Bigg Boss 20 has already sparked curiosity.
Lalit Modi was born in a wealthy business family. He is the son of Bina Modi and businessman Krishan Kumar Modi. His father was the Chairman of Modi Enterprises. His grandfather, Gujar Mal Modi, had established the Modi Group business conglomerate and also the town of Modinagar. He is an Indian businessman as well as the founder, first chairman and league commissioner of the Indian Premier League (IPL).
Lalit ran the IPL for three years until 2010 and also served as Chairman of the Champions League from 2008 to 2010 and was Vice President of the BCCI from 2005 to 2010. Lalit has also served as the President of the Rajasthan Cricket Association from 2005 till 2009 and then from 2014 till 2015. He was also the vice president of the Punjab Cricket Association from 2004 till 2012.
But do you know that Lalit was a mischievous kid at school? Yes, you read it right. He often used to bunk school, and for that he was expelled from the school. Once, he bunked school and went to watch a movie with his friends. Recalling the time when Lalit was expelled from school, a departmental store owner said:
"Lalit said he would be watching a football match, but went off to watch the Rajesh Khanna-Poonam Dhillon starrer Red Rose at Capitol Cinema. Three other boys went with him. When Brother CG Fernandez, the principal, found out, he called the parents of all of them and expelled them from school."
During his academic years from 1983 to 1986, Lalit was arrested for assaulting a student. Lalit pleaded guilty to the crime and entered a plea bargain, because of which he got a two-year prison sentence. In May 2010, Lalit left India amid severe security threats and mounting political and financial pressure. In Raj Shamani’s podcast, Lalit shared that he received death threats and thus moved to London.
Lalit and Sushmita Sen’s relationship was once the talk of the town. Their relationship first became public in July 2022, when Lalit surprised the internet by sharing a series of pictures with the actress from their vacations in the Maldives and Sardinia. Later, in an interview with Humans of Bombay, Lalit spoke about his past relationship with Sushmita. He said:
"Sushmita was very special to me; she made me grow into a lot of things that I am today, and was extremely special. She was very much part of my life at that time, and would have been. It was just that the distance was too much for us."
