Compared to other well-known personalities from the entertainment industry, Lin Shaye preferred to keep her personal life away from the limelight. As mentioned, she tied the knot twice, and her first husband was Marshall Rubinoff.
Although there are no details available on when Lin and Marshall exchanged vows, the marriage ended when Marshall died in 1968 in a motorcycle accident. Marshall was reportedly 24 at the time of his death. Marshall was mostly known as a member of the band, The Spike Drivers. Apart from singing and playing guitar for the group, Rubinoff also wrote a few singles released by them, such as I Know, Sometimes, and more.
Around 20 years after the death of Marshall Rubinoff, Lin Shaye tied the knot with the Knots Landing star, Clayton Landey, in 1988. The pair also had a child in 1989, as per IMDb. Clayton has been a part of the theatre for a long time. He has played important roles in other projects like Quiet Cool, Fatal Beauty, Pump Up the Volume, Price of Glory, Trouble with the Curve, Scary Movie 5, Sully, and more. Clayton and Lin divorced in 2003 after being married for 15 years.
Lin Shaye became a part of the Insidious franchise from the first film in 2010. She portrayed 'Elise Rainier,' who prevented 'Bride in Black' from taking over 'Josh’s' physical form when he was a child. 'Elise' later helped a girl named 'Quinn Brenner' and eventually joined the 'Specs' and 'Tucker Croft' to help anyone being troubled by demons or other supernatural beings. Although she died in the first film, the character returned as a spirit in the second film. Back in 2013, Lin Shaye recalled the time when the second film was being prepared, saying that James Wan wanted her to be a part of it. She further stated:
“We kind of left that open and over the months, I heard different versions of where the story was headed and hoping they would be able to bring Elise back into some area of the film. And lo and behold, I got the call that I was involved in it. I don’t want to say too much, but it was a wonderful part that Elise got to participate in this next adventure.”
