Hema Malini and Prakash Kaur arranged two separate prayer meets for Dharmendra, which sparked rift buzz between the two families. And now Hema Malini reacted to the same!
Dharmendra passed away on November 24, 2025, leaving his massive fanbase, families, and industry friends heartbroken. Following this, Dharmendra's family arranged two separate prayer meets for the late actor, which raised eyebrows while raising questions about whether there was any rift between the two families. Now, Hema Malini came forward to answer the same.
When Dharmendra was 19 years old, he got married to Prakash Kaur, with whom he shared four kids: Sunny Deol, Bobby Deol, Vijeta, and Ajeeta. It was in the 1980s when Dharmendra got married to Hema Malini while being married to Prakash Kaur. This has been a much-talked-about controversy throughout all these years. Dharmendra and Hema Malini have two daughters, Esha and Ahana. Now that, after his death, both families arranged two different prayer meets, the old controversy got nudged again, sparking speculations about a possible rift between the two families.
Hema Malini recently sat for an interview with ETimes, wherein she was asked whether the buzz about a possible family rift between the two families, given that different prayer meets were organised. To this, Hema replied that it's actually their personal matter, and they have talked about it. For the unversed, Prakash Kaur and her kids organised a prayer meet in Mumbai, which was not attended by Hema and her daughters.
On the other hand, Hema Malini organised three different prayer meets, one in Delhi, another in Mumbai, and another in Mathura. Sharing the reason, Hema said that her circle of people is quite different than Prakash Kaur's acquaintances, which prompted her to arrange a different prayer meet. She said:
"Yeh humare ghar ka personal mamla hai. We talked to each other. My group of people are different. Then, I kept one in Delhi because I am in politics, and it was important for me to keep a prayer meeting there for my friends from that field. Mathura is my constituency, and the people there are mad about him. So, I kept a prayer meeting there as well."
In the same interview, Hema Malini was asked about the buzz about Dharmendra's Lovanla farmhouse being turned into a museum. To this, Hema Malini added that Sunny Deol is trying to do something around that line, while adding that people shouldn't worry about the two families bearing any kind of rift, as everything is happening in the nicest way possible. She also added that people should stop worrying about what would happen between the two families in the future or about the fact that these two are two separate families. Hema further emphasised that they are all really going well and thus, people should give up on being worried about them.
In the same interview, Hema Malini was asked about Sunny Deol's reactions towards the paps during that time. For the unversed, it was only a few days ago, when the senior pap, Varinder Chawla, slammed Sunny for using abusive terms on the paps during that time, when they were only doing their jobs. Now, Hema Malini was asked about the same, and she revealed that the family was in a tense situation, and during that time the paps were following them and running behind their cars, so it actually was kind of a harrasment, which was a lot.
