The two dated on-and-off, and had reunited just two weeks before the actress' death. In fact, Brian was present in the house when Hayden died on August 16, 2026. The 36-year-old actress' mother blasted the 37-year-old and expressed how he 'was the bad news' in her life.
In the name of love, we often ignore the red flags and keep returning to people we know are not right for us. Maybe, Hayden was also struck in the loop of love, or Brian knew how to make his way back to her. A source close to the couple told Page Six that Brian was with Hayden at the time of her death.
The insider also revealed that Brian was supposed to leave but the two ended up on a flight to South Carolina where he lives. However, it is worth mentioning that the source revealed the two were not romantically involved with each other, and highlighted Hayden's remark for Brian on Jay Shetty's podcast just three months ago.
However, the source further claimed that Brian keeps working on his way to get back in to Hayden's life as 'a so called friend'. But Hayden's close friends were not happy with her involvement of any kind with Brian. The informer called Brian bad news and a real jerk.
It is worth noting that Hayden kept the fact hidden that she was back with Brian from her friends. The source stated that she wasn't talking about him to her friends. Another source justified it by stating that if you have shared some dark times with people and spoken badly about them, you feel ashamed of talking about them. The source said:
"If you’ve gone through some dark times with people and spoken about it [publicly] then there can be shame if you get back together with that same person. So maybe that was why she hadn’t mentioned it to us."
It is worth adding that Hayden and Brian had a difficult relationship as it was labelled with serious allegations of all sorts. From domestic violence claims to arrests and even criminal pleas. In 2019, Brian was arrested for deomestic violence, and four months later, the case was dimissed, and Hayden described it as the beginning of the physical abuse.
In fact, Hayden had talked about the abusive relationship with Brian in her memoir, This Is Me: A Reckoning. She explained on Jay Shetty's podcast that every time she found the strength to get away from her abusers they would always find their way back into her life, like if it was a pattern in her life. Those words reveal a personality of Hayden which needed protection from the people she thought to be hers.
Hayden, who had struggled with anxiety, alcoholism, opioid addiction and postpartum depression, revealed that Brian would get violent with her under the influence of substance.
As soon as the news surfaced about Hayden and Brian's relationship, netizens on Reddit expressed their opinion. One user wrote, "It’s just so sad that she would go back to her abuser. She must have been so tortured mentally to go back to someone who she knows is an abuser. Poor thing." Another penned, "This is the guy who she wrote about physically abusing her in her book. he didn't deny it and made excuses for it."
