In fact, he has called for immediate action to protect Hayden's assets, which now belong to their only 11-year-old child.
According to court documents obtained by TMZ, Wladimir Klitschko has asked a California court to appoint him as a temporary guardian of his daughter, Kaya's estate. Since Hayden Panettiere died without a will, her only daughter is expected to inherit her mother's assets as her sole heir. He also expressed concerns that the parts of the actress' estate could be at risk.
In fact, Wladimir specifically claimed that federal agents accessed Hayden's home as a part of their ongoing investigation and removed some of it. He also alleged that security measures were taken before and after her death due to the same concerns about unauthorized access to her residence.
The former heavyweight boxing champion argued that the court must appoint a personal representative to quickly safeguard Hayden's belongings, such as her personal items and property. He clarified that the guardianship request has been made to protect Kaya's inheritance.
For those who don't know, Hayden Panettiere's only child, Kaya Evdokia Klitschko, with Wladimir Klitschko, was born in December 2014. After her mother's death, she has now become the sole beneficiary of the actress's estate, property, and personal items. However, Wladimir has kept the 11-year-old out of the media spotlight, and they live in Europe.
Some reports revealed that Kaya spends most of her time in Ukraine. She has developed an interest in music, chess, and other outdoor activities. Although the actress and Wladimir had ended their romantic relationship, they stayed connected for their daughter. Now, the latest filing highlights that her father is trying to protect her estate until she reaches adulthood.
Previously, Hayden had expected that motherhood would be one of the meaningful experiences in her life. She also opened up about the personal challenges she had faced after childbirth. The actress once shared how she had to deal with severe postpartum depression after Kaya's birth.
In fact, she felt extremely overwhelmed by the whole emotional and physical toll of motherhood. Moreover, Hayden also fought addiction issues in the years after her daughter's birth. Although they lived apart, Hayden often mentioned how she stayed connected through phone calls, video chats, and frequent visits.
One of the most tough decisions that Hayden Panettiere had to make was to give the primary custody of her daughter to Wladimir Klitschko in 2018. She later explained that she made the call when she was dealing with postpartum depression and substance abuse issues.
Instead of getting into a lengthy custody battle, the actress believed that her decision would give a better stability to her daughter in Europe with her father. Later, when Hayden regained her health and sobriety, her daughter had already built a happy and secure life overseas.
Despite the painful separation, Hayden reportedly denied that she abandoned her daughter. She explained that being apart from her flesh and blood was one of the most heartbreaking experiences of her life, and she often grieved missing her everyday moments. Still, they shared a deep bond through constant communication and visits. In her words:
"Not being under the same roof with her every day has been the most gut-wrenching experience of my life, and it's hard to describe the layers of emotion, including sadness, resentment, and anger, that I've felt because of it. I grieve that I'm not the mother I thought I'd be and definitely not the mother I want to be, and although I miss Kaya so much my heart aches, I know how blessed I am to be her mom."
