Ken was found unresponsive at a home in Louisiana on Thursday, October 1, 2026, which also happened to be his birthday. TMZ was the first to report the news after a TikTok live confirmed the tragedy.
According to initial reports, Gypsy Rose became concerned after sending Ken a "happy birthday" text and not receiving any response from his end. Her brother, Dylan Blanchard, and his wife later went to Urker's home after making plans to have dinner with him and discovered him unresponsive. Ken's sister, Autumn, later confirmed his death during a TikTok livestream. She reportedly shared that his final words to her were, "I love you."
The circumstances surrounding Urker's death have not been publicly disclosed. During the livestream, however, statements were reportedly made that he died "not of natural causes." Autumn also indicated that they don't believe foul play was involved. There is no authorized confirmation of these claims.
The timing of Ken's death has been particularly devastating for his family and close ones. According to PEOPLE, Urker was found inside a Louisiana home by a family member after he failed to respond to Blanchard's birthday message.
Ken and Gypsy Rose welcomed their daughter, Aurora Raina Urker, in 2024, and the couple often posted wholesome family moments on social media. Blanchard had previously opened up about the joy of seeing her man grow into fatherhood, describing the experience as "really heartwarming" and "adorable."
After Aurora's birth, she told PEOPLE, "Ken was young when we met, and so it's adorable and really heartwarming to see him grow and mature through this process." Blanchard added, "I've learned that he is a lot more patient than I gave him credit for. So it's been wonderful to watch him grow as a person through the last year, but also step into this new mature role."
Blanchard and Urker's love story began under unexpected circumstances. Years before Aurora was born, Gypsy was serving time in prison for the 2015 killing of her mother, Dee Dee Blanchard, when she received a letter from Ken.
Ken had initially contacted her after being deeply moved by Blanchard's HBO documentary Mommy Dead and Dearest and sent her a letter of support. What began as a pen pal correspondence eventually turned romantic. They first met in prison when Urker visited her, and it was also where they shared their first kiss.
Ken proposed in October 2018, but the engagement was later called off. After this, he and Gypsy remained apart for several years, during which Blanchard married Ryan Anderson in 2022.
After Blanchard was released from prison in December 2023, she separated from Anderson and eventually reconnected with Urker. A PEOPLE report confirmed that the couple reunited in April 2024 and their relationship grew stronger in no time. They attended a jazz festival together, and soon afterward learned they were expecting a baby.
Later that year, the couple embraced parenthood with the birth of their daughter, Aurora. Their family moments had since become a highlight on Gypsy's social media, even though Urker largely remained out of the spotlight.
Urker’s death comes less than two years after little Aurora was born. While early reports have raised questions about the circumstances of his death, there has been no official public determination of the cause.
