BBC 'Hope Street' fame, Finnian Garbutt was diagnosed with terminal cancer at the age of 28, he left for the heavenly abode.
Famous actor of BBC series, The Hope Street, Finnian Garbutt, passed away on April 15, 2026. It is an extremely tough time for the family of three as Finnian, who was 28, was diagnosed with cancer just a month ago. He was diagnosed with cancer in 2021, which started with a small mole behind his ear, and it was identified as a skin cancer.
On April 17, 2026, Finnian Garbutt's wife, Louise, took to his Instagram handle and shared a heart-wrenching note about his demise. The actor was best known for his role as 'PC Ryan Power' in the famous crime series. He was diagnosed with Stage Three skin cancer, which had spread to his neck. Sharing the news of his death, his wife revealed that Finnian took his last breath after a sudden decline in his condition.
Finnian's wife further stated that the actor took his last breath surrounded by his family at their home. She thanked everyone for their support and kind words during the difficult time. The statement by the family can be read as:
"Hi everyone. We're absolutely heartbroken to announce that Finnian passed away yesterday after a sudden decline in his condition. He passed peacefully at home, as he wished, surrounded by his family. We want to thank everyone for their support, their kind words, and for being with us during this really difficult time. And thank you also to everyone who donated to our GoFundMe page. The peace of mind you all gave Finn during his last days made his passing so much easier to bear."
Finnian's wife further penned how he was the greatest husband, father, son, brother and friend. She added that knowing that he was no longer in pain gives them comfort despite their own big loss. She revealed that they would soon announce details of his funeral. She concluded the post by writing:
"We will always love and miss you, Finn. You were the greatest husband, father, son, brother, and friend we could ever ask for, and knowing that you’re no longer in pain gives us all comfort, despite our own immense pain at losing you. We will soon be announcing details of his funeral. In the meantime, we ask that our family’s privacy be respected at this really difficult time. Thank you so much, and with all the love in the world, Louise, Luke & the family."
People who have known Finnian have penned heartfelt messages for him. One wrote, "Finnian brought so much joy to so many, and his memory will be cherished forever. My deepest condolences to all the family at this time." Another one commented, "’ll raise a glass to you tonight, Finn. A remarkable man who’ll be deeply missed. Sending all my love to your family during this heartbreaking time. Rest in peace, mate." A third user wrote, "I am absolutely heartbroken. Finnian brought an incredible amount of joy to everyone, and I was so blessed to know such an incredible soul. Sending my deepest condolences to Louise, Saoirse, and his entire family. At the age of 25, Finnian found a lump behind his ear during the pandemic. His barber revealed that it was growing, and later it was revealed that Finnian had Stage 3 skin cancer. In 2022, he underwent a 12-hour surgery, and during the process, they removed 75 lymph nodes from his neck and face, but he was then diagnosed with Stage 4 Melanoma in August 2024, just two weeks before his daughter's birth. Later, in March 2026, Finnian revealed that his cancer had spread and he was in the last stages.
