One of Silicon Valley's most infamous figures, Elizabeth Holmes, has been grabbing attention with the documentary You Can See Everything, which is gearing up for release in October 2026. Holmes was hailed as a visionary entrepreneur when she claimed that her company, Theranos, would bring a revolution to the healthcare industry with a device that could run hundreds of tests using only a few drops of blood.

However, the rise collapsed when her company failed to deliver on its promises. Following this, Elizabeth Holmes was sent to federal prison for defrauding investors of millions of dollars. In 2022, following a trial, a federal jury found her guilty of one count of conspiracy and three counts of wire fraud for deceiving investors. She was sentenced to 11 years and 3 months in prison, and after several delays, in May 2023, she turned herself in and began serving her sentence at the Federal Prison Camp Bryan.

Elizabeth Holmes spoke about her 'shattering' feelings over being separated from her kids

Now that A24 is set to release the documentary about Elizabeth Holmes, the incident has once again grabbed attention. Amid this, let's take a look at what she had to say in her first interview from prison. The interview was conducted by PEOPLE back in 2025, and Elizabeth revealed her feelings about being separated from her two kids. Elizabeth's partner, Billy, and their two kids visit her twice a week, and she spends a good amount of time with them.

Speaking to PEOPLE last year, Elizabeth revealed that during one visit, her children communicated with her by pressing their fingers together to form a heart sign and saying, 'Mommy, this is our love'. Elizabeth, speaking in the interview, revealed that seeing her kids leaving the prison after visiting her was something that felt shattering to her. Recalling the same, Elizabeth shared:

"It shatters my world every single time. The people I love the most have to walk away as I stand here, a prisoner, and my reality sinks in.”

In the same interview, Elizabeth Holmes shared that she was not the 'same person' as she was before, while adding that she has hopes that the truth will prevail. She mentioned that it makes one question themselves, seeing other people who didn't even meet her, 'believed so strongly about' her. Stating that it feels like 'hell' and 'torture', Elizabeth said:

"They don’t understand who I am. It forces you to spend a lot of time questioning belief and hoping the truth will prevail. I am walking by faith and, ultimately, the truth. But it’s been hell and torture to be here.”

Who is Elizabeth Holmes' partner, Billy Evans? How did they meet?

Elizabeth Holmes met Evans Hotels heir, Billy Evans, back in 2017 at a charity event. The couple was introduced by their mutual friends, and they formed an instant connection. The couple fell in love, and in 2018, he proposed marriage to her after they attended a Taylor Swift Reputation concert together.

Billy bought a silver snake ring from the concert and asked for her hand. Despite Holmes facing a legal mess back then, the couple decided to start a family of their own. In an interview with PEOPLE, Elizabeth shared that she asked Billy several times if he was sure, because 'there were a million reasons why not'.

However, the couple started a family and eventually had two kids. Elizabeth's two pregnancies coincided with her criminal prosecutions from 2021 to 2022. Initially, Elizabeth's criminal trial was scheduled for March 2021, which was delayed as she revealed she was pregnant.

She welcomed her first child, a son, William, in July 2021. Elizabeth became pregnant for the second time in 2022, which delayed her prison reporting as well. She welcomed her second child, a daughter, Invicta, in 2023. Even though there have been reports that Holmes is married to her partner, in 2025 Elizabeth, while speaking to PEOPLE, mentioned:

"Maybe we’ll get married someday. But our bond is more than a piece of paper. We bought rings on Amazon before I went to prison. It’s just special to me because our love is deep. It’s real.”
