Add BollywoodShaadis on GoogleDrishyam 3: The Conclusion has officially hit the theatres on October 2, 2026. The movie's release on that date was a deliberate move to keep the audience connected to the plot. For the unversed, on October 2, the protagonist 'Vijay Salgaonkar' (Ajay Devgn) hatched the plan to plant false alibis and save his family from going to jail on charges of murder. It has since become a meme among the franchise's fans.
Banking on the nostalgia of the first two films, Drishyam 3 arrived on schedule. Packed with twists and turns, the story carried forward the franchise's core authenticity. The story remains gripping despite a few flaws. Whether it was ultimately a hit or a miss- read on to find out.
Drishyam 3: The Conclusion keeps you on the edge of your seat with its gripping plot, signature twists, heightened tensions, and the classic cat-and-mouse chase. 'How far will you go for your family?' - the question that has driven the first two parts of the trilogy looms large in the conclusion as well. Abhishek Pathak made the biggest gamble by steering Drishyam 3 away from Mohanlal's Malayalam version and giving its plot a new direction.
A comparison between the two versions is inevitable, given the massive success both have achieved. "Drishyam 3 Hindi: 1) Ajay Devgn is a better actor than Mohanlal," claimed an X (formerly Twitter) user. The changed plot and new character addition in Ajay's version give the known story a fresh feel. The movie stays focused on the classic trope of 'hero never fails', but with 'what ifs' in each move he makes.
The internet collectively agreed on Ajay Devgn carrying the film once again; however, they have also lauded the added spice of 'SP Rajveer Singh Tomar' (Jaideep Ahlawat) and loved his rivalry with the protagonist. "Ajay is a secure actor & he lets Jaideep Ahlawat, Kamlesh Sawant, Rajat Kapur and Prakash Raj shine in their moments," wrote an X user regarding the actors' dynamics.
Ajay Devgn's Drishyam 3's first half takes time to pick up pace, which might not have been the best move given the movie's focus on a single case that has already built up, reached its climax, and anti-climaxed two more times in the previous instalments. However, it does move steadily once new details related to the case start unfolding after an active investigation of 'Meera Deshmuk's' (Tabu) son's murder takes place.
The old, dusty files of the case get reopened after 'Meera's' husband, 'Mahesh' (Rajat Kapoor), requests them to save his suicidal, grieving wife. The slow start of the first half is compensated by the chilling dialogue exchange between 'Vijay' and 'SP Rajveer' as they stare into each other's souls and promise to defeat each other. In the scene, 'Vijay' states that his family is his weakness, not his power; yet as a common, family-loving man, he would do whatever it takes to keep them safe and sound.
The audience wanted to see 'Vijay' live up to his words, which he may or may not have done. But his emotional side as a family man somehow gets overshadowed by his outdoor action. Amid the thriller and suspense, Jaideep's witty one-liners seemed like a breather. "Jaideep Ahlawat has absolutely nailed it in #Drishyam3. Every time he appears, you feel the tension. That aura, that voice, that personality. Solid personality he has," wrote a viewer.
They added, "No overacting, just pure desi acting and brutally realistic dialogue delivery." The audience, however, complained about the wasted potential of 'Vijay's' wife and daughters, who could have been more than supporting characters, as they were in the first two instalments. Coming to the ending, the audience has mixed reactions, with some feeling it wasn't peak but decent, while others thought the last trick by 'Vijay' fell flat, making one wonder, 'Is this what we waited for all these years?'
Overall verdict- Fans of suspense-thrillers should consider Drishyam 3 as a one-time watch. Its experimental plot doesn't disappoint, though the ending might not meet all expectations.
