The news was first revealed in 2024 by the insiders of the New York Post, stating that the duo started dating each other after meeting at Michael’s party. However, Mitchell or Jones had not yet made their relationship official through any platform at that time.
Although they have kept a lot of details related to their romance away from the limelight, Donovan Mitchell and Coco Jones’s relationship reports began when they appeared together at a concert of Usher in 2024, held in Las Vegas. The pair was holding hands at the event, and a snap of the same was posted through an X account, active under the username @nbagossipp.
Back in February 2025, Coco appeared for an interview on the Club Shay Shay podcast, addressing the rumours that were emerging about her relationship status. Jones said during the conversation that she loves the fact that there are spies all around to share little things, and she felt like she was in a detective film. Coco continued by saying:
“You know what, I’m happy. I don’t want to ever feel like I have to be somebody’s secret. I don’t want to make anybody feel like they’re mine. I think, for me, I’m trying to protect myself, and I’m trying to protect my family and whoever I love. So, yeah, I am more private.”
Donovan Mitchell and Coco Jones came into the headlines in July 2025 when the latter shared an Instagram post. She added a photo with the sun in the background, due to which their faces were not revealed. Notably, the pair was spotted kissing each other, and the post caption was empty. Coco also added the music of her single, You, to the post. While netizens sent their best wishes in the comments section, Coco and Donovan’s representative confirmed the news and said:

Shortly after a representative confirmed Donovan Mitchell and Coco Jones’s engagement, the former took to his Instagram handle to share a new post. It included a photo that was originally shared by Coco Jones. This was followed by a video of the proposal, which started with a glimpse of a luxurious location. The clip was recorded from the top of the location, and it featured Donovan going on his knee to pop the question.
Coco Jones also appeared for an interview on Sherri in October 2025. The conversation revealed that the duo was helped by Russell Wilson and Ciara to plan the proposal. Coco disclosed that Russell helped Donovan to get in touch with the planner to execute everything. Notably, Coco appeared excited when she was questioned about whether Ciara and Russell would be similarly involved in her wedding.
